Hoping I heard this incorrectly!
Apparently the shiny big wig in charge of the cricket is wanting people not to mention the words Australia Day, when the test is being played at the time.

Weather forecast for Brisbane looks a bit dicey for the weekend so we may get a test that gets to Day 5 for a change

Oh dear.
4/24 at lunch against what many consider a minnow in the Test Cricket world nowadays.
That after allowing the WI tail to put on 250 runs after having them 5/64 this time yesterday!
A simple reminder that this side is far from great and nowhere near the 1948 Invincibles or the team of the mid 90s to mid 2000s in quality across all areas of the game!

Well played WI, especially after that day 1 first session. BH you are talking about 2 generational Aust team's, whose feats will probably  never ever be matched in our life time by any Aust test team.......will be interesting to see how this match pans out......it ain't over till it's over I guess.

Freeze we both know that but try telling some of the ES states based CA "approved" media who believe in their wisdom this current side is "the greatest"!
Our batting has been lamentable for well over a year now, the odd occasional cameo from a Khawaja, Head, Marsh etc still cant hide we havent scored well over 400 in a long time.
Smith's remarkable run of form some years back hid how poor our batting has been for years (with occasional help from Labuschagne or Warner) but now the former 2 or horribly out of form & Warner is gone there is now no where to hide.
What is the supercoach doing about this terrible run of form with our bats???

So we beat a b grade team, Pakistan, flog the windies and we’re the greatest?  My God, I can hear the REAL cricket players turning in their graves.  The Poms and India to come, we’d better be “the greatest team ever”.

I hope the Windies go on and pummel us and it it begins the rebirth of West Indies cricket, in particular test cricket. Ronald McDonald and the cartel’s selection decisions have been a failure.

Pity Green hasn’t made a couple of good scores because Smith looks all at sea as an opener and it would put the selectors under pressure. No doubt they’ll do nothing saying it’s too early but I’m sure if they picked Cam Bancroft and he was failing like Smith they would be quick to swing the axe or it wouldn’t be far away.
Get on your bike.

DD, considering Bancroft has had 14 tests as an opener, to prove his prowess....I guess in the selectors eyes, Smith deserves more than 2 tests to prove his opener's "prowess" then. Not that I agree with Smith opening, but a fella with 9500+ runs on the board at an average of 50 +, is always going to get more rope to hang himself, then a fella with less runs and half the average.

Folk seem to forget 3 of Aust recent best opening batsmen weren't initially opening specialists....they were put into the role  later on in their careers....eg  Langer, Boon and now Uzzie.....all three however had first class averages in the mid to late 40's before taking on the role, which enabled them to ultimately succeed ..... no different to Smith I guess....Harris, Renshaw and Bancroft certainly don't have those stats....and they are deemed the opening specialists.
