What a laughable situation we have with Australian cricket. Summer is barely half way over,  yet  the summer of cricket real cricket wise, is dead and buried。
Two very oncompetitive test series. Probably would have been two white washes but for the Sydney rain.
Now we are left to be entertained by PJ  cricket. Very sad.
The Sheffield shield hidden away until after this farce finishes. But sadly as well never to be be seen on GTA.
Even worse is that we, Australia face two of our toughest tests.  Tours of  India and England.
And to select a touring team, we rely on players from the BBC.  What a shambles. How can CA be so stupid?

AM, i think they had the rug pulled out from under them by South Africa not wanting to do a white ball series but rather they wanted to play their local T20, and the Indians demanding this tour be early to fit in with their local T20 comp.

I think this is the way of the future unfortunately, especially with every country wanting to make the money on offer by broadcasting T20 cricket

It's a huge ask of our test players.India away than the Ashes away..
Hardly watched a ball of the Pink Test.Rain and disappointing competition.
Only entertaining test was that crazy green top at the Gabba.
T20 is reduced next year from 62 to 41 games. Our BBL now clashes with RSA, Bangladesh and the cashed up UAE.
CA will bumble along now they have the new TV Rights Deal.

Its all about the $$$ and the number of people watching TV. However with the advent of the South African league in particular, the BBL is now at the lowest standard it has ever been. In previous seasons you had guys like Buttler, Roy, Livingstone, Morgan etc etc playing in the BBL, they are all in the South African league now. The BBL should be condensed into a 3- 4 week window over December/January, it is too drawn out. If this happens then the shield could resume at the end of that competition with less downtime and more of the star players would be tempted back to play in a shorter league

I am also amazed that Josh Inglis was not selected for the tour of India. I have always thought he is a better gloveman than Carey.  I suppose they are thinking that her can push his case better playing for WA than sitting around as a reserve keeper in India, maybe that thinking will prove correct if he can push his case for the ashes tour.

Mike how can Hanscombe be regarded as a better batsman than Inglis. At the best he is an ordinary keeper and batsman.

I really cant see the logic of picking 4 spinners to tour India when only Lyon is going to play with back up from part timers in Labuschagne, Head & Smith.
Swepson is just not up to Test level having seen him in Pakistan & Sri Lanka last year, Murphy is speculative at best after only a handful of first class games, whilst Agar isnt going to trouble Indian batsman but might be used as a net bowler to get the batsmen used to Jadeja's angles even though he is a vastly superior bowler to Agar.
I would have taken Zampa for a leg spinning option and saved on the airfares for Swepson, Murphy & Handscomb who has never greatly impressed me.

At the end of the day our strength is in our pace attack and that is where we should focus our bowling stocks on- Cummins, Hazlewood, Starc, Boland & Green as on our rare successful tours there pace has been the key even India's strength is more with pace than spin these days- Bumrah, Siraj, Shami, Pandya etc.
Even Warne & MacGill struggled to take wickets over there.

Far from the days when Australia sometimes took only one spinner to India - this time we're taking no less than four specialist spinners but at least there's still five pace bowlers going which could be the best move yet
India will go after our spin and that's pretty much guaranteed so use of the quicks is crucial
Handscomb injured himself in Melbourne suburban cricket and had to go to hospital so we still may yet see Josh Inglis selected if a replacement is needed
I do not see Handscomb as a long term Test batsman
