Obviously a tad more then just quad tightness.

I wonder if Warner has signed his own retirement papers with all this chit chat?....another sub par innings again....no doubt his past home success in red ball will keep him in the team v SA.....but what if he fails then?.....who decides when enough is enough.....because obviously the selectors won't, especially after the way the Finch life line was extended and then extended some more, despite his repeated bouts of flat lining......

Tough gig for a replacement....a tour to India and then the UK......two of the hardest tours going....sometimes the selectors don't really bring much forward thinking nous to the table.

Really missed a trick not selecting Morris. You then would have had real variety in the three quicks but nup, “next in line” shit.

Decent bowler Neser, but for mine nothing special and not up to Test level. Gets an armchair ride here against a fragile WI batting line up with a pink ball. Should have been Morris.

Agree Daz. Boland and Neser are honest trundlers and will probably do ok against a pretty ordinary WI batting line up but Morris needs to come in against SA who have a bowling attack which will give the Aussie batters a serious audit. One thing is for certain, golden boy Marnie can expect some express chin music to fully test him out from those blokes.

Boland and Neser are good blokes both steady eddy's.....but agree if the selectors truly believe in developing the team, then Morris should of been given the nod, more so considering his current form....whose to say what he will be bowling like, once the red ball comp starts again.

Hopefully some fresh blood will be introduced over the coming 12-18 months....if not could be a repeat of when Aust lost some key 30 + year old core regulars in one go, in the 80's and 2000's....can see Hazlewood, Starc and Lyon all going bowling wise, Warner, Uzzie and Smith batting wise......

Looks like the wheels are falling off the West Indies bus. Chanderpaul is holding it together and it is the one positive that has come out of this tour. They have had wretched luck with injuries although what were they thinking with that young fast bowler ( mindley?) parachuted into the team 36 hours after a flight from the West Indies and had played no cricket in the last month. Setting him up for failure and injury which has inevitably happened?
For the Aussies, Neser and Boland have bowled beautifully so far. If the West Indies don't bat for a couple of sessions today, this game won't go the 5 days.
Whatever happens Australia won't enforce the follow on, so I'm hoping they might promote Green to 3 or 4 in the 2nd innings so he can have a decent hit before facing South Africa. He looked so rusty and under confident yesterday which is not surprising given that yesterday was his first red ball innings of the summer.

I am wondering whether Warner will announce his retirement from test cricket at the end of this game ( almost certainly today)
He has averaged 25 against a very modest West Indies attack. He knows that the South Africans will come for him. He has a number of weaknesses in his technique which have been exploited by guys like Broad over the last few years.
He also seems to have lost interest and is lackadaisical in his batting and fielding. He appears to have been totally distracted by the media circus related to the review of his leadership ban. He may now feel that he would be better off playing in the lucrative T20 leagues around the world to round off his career.
I may be wrong but there are a number of players ( Harris, Renshaw, Hunt and Bancroft) who are knocking on the door and Warner may decide to jump before he gets pushed

Mike I've heard that Warner was going to retire ,from the Australian Test side. After Adelaide, but  a deal was needed to be done.
DW wanted the BBL Captaincy of the Sydney 6ers.Thats not CA's call..Henriques has been the 6ers Captain for around a decade now.Not sure that would be a popular decision with the 6ers team.Maby CA could send DW north to the Brisbane Heat.
This could be part of the deal between Channel 7 and CA.To have higher profile players in the BBL.Including having our International players playing more BBL games.

Warner has become a liability, but being part of the Cummins lead golden NSW circle he will stay as long as he wants.
Interesting to see our eco warrior Cummins walking around signing autographs in the Alinta energy jacket, wasn't that the company he was so against? No class and no credibility.

The selectors have a big call coming up - stay with Warner for SA and then the tours or start bringing in the next gen for exposure

It's just a matter of when

SA will quickly sort Warner's lack of footwork anyway from what I've seen

Warner like most of the selfish cricketers of nowadays will want to play his 100th Test (currently on 98) before he even contemplates hanging up the bat!
