Morning all-- I saw in the process of the pathetic capitulation on the part of England, Curran managed to make a 'king pair' -- naturally, in this day and age of below par batsmanship, playing the same shot twice -- can anybody re-call an Australian ever achieving a similar unwanted feat?

Ark, only two Australians have registered king pairs, and they both occurred this century.
Adam Gilchrist was twice dismissed LBW first ball - to Harbhajan Singh and then Sachin Tendulkar - against India at Eden Gardens in 2001.
This was the Test when VVS Laxman and Rahul Dravid put on 376 for the fifth wicket after Steve Waugh enforced the follow-on, before Harhhajan spun the home side to a convincing victory. 
And, bizarrely, Ryan Harris was out LBW for twin golden ducks - to Graeme Swann and then Jimmy Anderson - against England at the Adelaide Oval in 2001.   
Even more bizarre was that Simon Katich was run out for a diamond duck in the first over of the same Test.
Not surprisingly, that was a bad omen for the Aussies as we lost the match by an innings.

Just a minor amendment to some really good research ADGM. The Ryan Harris dismissal (and the Katich run out) were in the 2010- 11 ashes which was the only series that England have won in Australia since 1986.

Thanks, Mike, a typo on my behalf re 2001 instead of 2010.
That 2010-11 series was notable for England winning three Tests by an innings, with Australia's sole success being the obligatory victory at the WACA.
It's remarkable to think that Australia managed 5-0 home Ashes wins either side of that series.

I think we can forgive the keeper due to the dodgy nature of Indian pitches, although, as you wrote with aplomb, Ad, the wonderful Laxman showed them all up; he should be above all the other Indian players, because it is 'when you make' not 'how many'.
Let us hope Malan makes a few tonight--played well in Perth, according to the BBC?

AR when I think of Anglo/Indian Tests I always think Graham Gooch must have fond memories of playing India especially at Lords back in 1990.

BH: very true on Gooch, mate; from an Australian point of view, he did the right thing and stayed below Bradman's score. Warne said Gooch was the best Englishman he had bowled to in his career.

India rolled over for 70 odd.....nice to know Aust batsmen aren't the only spuds when it comes to facing the swinging ball.....

India all out for 78 and England 0-120 in reply.
Headingley has a reputation for favouring swing bowling and England did so to perfection, capped off by an unbeaten century opening stand.
With such a solid platform laid down for him, I fully expect Yorkshire lad Joe Root to score another century on his home deck. 
Unless Virat Kohli can do a VVS Laxman and Cheteshwar Pujara plays the role of Rahul Dravid, this Test is as good as over.
They're due to find some form as Kohli has gone 11 Tests without a century and Pujara a staggering 21 Tests.
