How many did Warne take?

www.espncricinfo.com/story/_/id/28966690/best-watched-spin

Just 100, not sure Chappell realises this; he actually could not bowl on sub-continent pitches full stop. In his defence, of course, the sub continentals can play spin, and, to be honest, Warne relied on bounce more than spin to take wicket; that is to say, the pitches with bounce in Australia and England. Thinking back, actually, Macgill turned the ball a lot more anywhere in the world.

Warne's "Ball of the Century" to a flummoxed Mike Gatting turned a fair bit AR but in Australia he got a lot of his wickets from flippers (lbw & bowled) and with a bit of extra bounce as you say.
In Asia it turns a lot but very slowly on most of their pitches allowing the batsmen time to adjust.

true, bease, there were two suprised cricketers out there that day, in terms of the amount of spin he got: 1) gatting 2) warne.

To Warne's credit, as you know, he always claims that 'natural variation' counts for a lot in a cricket match, which is very modest and honest of him

Just going back to that match in India, do you remember if macgill played? If he did not, do you think he could have helped warne win the the game had he been in the side?

I think they took Colin 'Funky' Miller over as Warne's spin bowling offsider for that particular series AR god knows why MacGill wasnt playing as well?
Funky could also bowl a bit of medium pace swing as well.
I suppose we were on a 16 or 17 game Test Match winning sequence at the time and they wanted to keep the same squad together if possible-
Hayden
Langer
Ponting
M.Waugh
Martyn
S.Waugh
Gilchrist
Warne
Lee
Miller
McGrath
Gillespie
