Simply has to receive a big suspension. The umpire is standing still, he walks towards him from a distance and makes DELIBERATE passive aggressive contact with him. There is nothing in his defence here. Remember Greg Williams got nine weeks for shoving an umpire who was in his face, Todd Curley and Phil Matera and others got a few weeks for ACCIDENTAL contact with an umpire!
I’m astounded that people are sticking up for Greene, Bartel just said he hopes he’s playing next week. Why? Leon Cameron says he’s sure it wasn’t intentional. Dunno bout that Leon.
Umpires frustrate all of us but deliberate physical contact with them has to be frowned upon heavily.

Listening to a footy show this morning (WAShow) and I agree with what they were saying.  Green has crossed the line in a big way and should not play another game this year.  I certainly agree with that.  Another point bought up as to why they need to take a hard line is for grass roots football.  We know that kids are impressionable and watching that incident may easily be taken as an ok thing to do.
Listen to a vicco show and you’d think he was being victimised.

Your last point is very important 58 in that it sets an example to kids coming through that it's not acceptable to physically impose yourself on an umpire or subject them to abuse. The actual contact itself was nothing but it's what it represents that needs to be stepped on big time....4 weeks for mine.

He got 3 weeks which rules him out for the rest of 2021 and is about right imo.

Lucky he only got 3. They obviously took into account the cost of missing the finals. I imagine he's the type of bloke who would walk into a bar or night club or casino with his chest pumped out doing exactly the same thing and next thing it's on but he'd be playing the I was provoked card because I'm an AFL player.
