Then why do we pay huge rights to play Bledislo Cup games and STOO matches at Optus, even during this pandemic? Why did Colin Barnett say it’s worth more to the city of Perth to call the stadium Perth Stadium than the 50 million I think Optus is paying us for the naming rights over 10 years? Why does our government pay mega stars like Roger Federa and Serena Williams huge appearance fees for them to play the Hopman Cup here instead of other tournaments? One word, EXPOSURE.

And grand finals are remembered and replayed for decades down the track. Only a numpty from a rugby state wouldn’t understand that.

It doesn't matter that interstate fans can't come into WA for the AFL GF if it's played at Optus. The tens of millions all over the world watching the game is the tourism opportunity that must be seized if this clown has any idea and I'm talking about our hopeless Premier, not Gill the Dill.

The problem is McGoo hasn't got a sporting bone in his body and couldn't care less about football in this proud football state. Barnett would have been all over this to ensure Perth hosted the AFL GF.

Now just wait for the Ozfooty wordsmith to come out with a pearler I'll have to Google to learn the meaning of to condemn my attack on his lordship.

Don’t agree. You really reckon tens of millions of people watch the afl grand final around the world and that a lot of them will be that impressed by a stadium that they will say to themselves “I’m booking myself a ticket to Perth” and give us this huge tourism boom? In this current world?
Rugby Union - international sport.  Tennis - international sport.  Aussie Rules barely a national sport.

Rugby State of Origin has an international audience does it? It is well known the AFL GF is broadcast right around the world.

I was referring to rugby union rather than rugby league.  Rugby League is also an international sport.

Lol how many countries play Rugby League 42? 4?
By that measuring stick Australian Rules Football is an International Sport as there are at least 20 countries where they have an affiliated competition!

Honestly give it up Seannie, your defence of any criticism of your beloved Labor party is boring us to death. What international interest is there in SOO that the WA Labor government pays rugby Australia to play it here? Compare that to an AFL GF? Not even a contest when comparing national and international exposure. If it’s a great grand final it will be played every year on the eve and morning of every grand final for decades.

A few upsets and good results so far. Have to ask why Hawthorn would want to get rid of Clarko, he gave a coaching masterclass yesterday to easily roll one of the flag favourites. It's all to do with Kennett's ego I think.

Fine day for the local so called derby, so no wet weather excuses for WC.

A couple of quotes from Mr McGoo in the last 24 hours. There still might be lockdowns and closed borders with 80% vaccinated in Australia. Still wants zero cases in the community because his 20th century hospital system would be at breaking point if we had half a dozen people in ICU with Covid.

Hosting the AFL GF is not my number one priority.

No it wouldn’t be for a NSW country boy who hates AFL football because you don’t understand it and hopeless at it. But I’m sure if the NRL were asking you to host their GF it would be a massive priority you Rockingham bogan.

Speaking to my brother who lives in Melbourne, their is a lot of chat around that WA is the preferred (only) venue for the GF. Also a lot of comment about how good the atmosphere was for the WC v Freo game with 50k plus in attendance. The Players assoc rep,  Dangerfield has stated that the players desperately want to play the GF in front of a big crowd. Not many other options at the moment, maybe Adelaide oval but they are still at 50%. Might even be the whole finals series here with all 8 teams in a bubble for the duration or until each team is eliminated. Can we do that for initially around 250 players + all the support staff and hangers on? Plus providing secure training facilities for each participating club, thats a big maybe.
