Interesting story on privatising a footy club. With most NRL clubs being privatised, could this be the solution?

I've been looking at this one since it was announced , it will only be a matter of time before a second tier league side goes ahead with a private owner set up
Some will be successful others may not be so & I hope it won't be a Nathan Tinkler affair as in the Newcastle Jets scenario
Very interesting stuff to me anyway

I think with the money from TV Rights and sponsorship and contracts these days Southerner that it is financially possible that teams could all have their own reserves side in a second tier competition in the years ahead.

One of the main stumbling blocks from memory was the lack of finances that saw the demise of the old reserves competition.

I think also the Vicco comp would be patrolling it too - you could see a privately owned team get ambitions to enter the comp down the track (eg: like the Joondy Royals type caper but without the merger)

You can see it happening but I think that we should leave it at 18 teams in the main competition for now. Any more teams and we will be playing games all over the place like the EPL does and that's something that I don't want to see.

I understand that there is a push for Tasmania to get a team but I think for now the 6-8 games they get a year is good. If they were looking for more games, maybe one or two of the struggling Melbourne clubs might look at playing 1-2 games each a year there, increasing the total games in Tasmania to 10-12 a year. Depending on fixtures it might be possible to even have a game in Tasmania every fortnight.

They have only 6 games in Tasmania this year, up from five last season.. Couldn't see it going over 8 games.. Most Taswegians have two heads so they see each game twice.
