It's no surprise to me the media both here and over east are raving about Dean Cox as though it's his job if he wants it. And I read on the AFL app about the appointment of Jarrod Schofield as interim coach it started with Who is Jarrod Schofield?

It was actually a good article describing Schofield as a hard nosed coach who builds strong relationships with his players and a smart tactician.

As far as Dean Cox goes, I don't think think he's a good communicator from interviews I've seen and is an unproven coach.

This for me is another Tim Kelly moment for the Eagles. He's right under your nose. They ended up paying a very big price for Tim Kelly when they could have picked him up very cheaply when he was right in their backyard.

It's a big test for the smarts of new CEO Don Pyke. Schofield has the runs on the board and is a very good communicator. He has done a full apprenticeship and ticked off all the boxes.

Dean Cox gets a really low rating in the Big Footy site.  Cops a fair bit of slagging.

By who WC or Sydney fans? I find it puzzling why Schofield has said he's not sure if he will apply for the job. Maybe the players will have a big say in the remaining 7 games.

My reluctance to comment has been overcome by the notion that the WCE would even consider FIGJAM as their coach. I do NOT support any AFL team but find that notion to be abhorrent and a huge slap in the face to any and all WCE supporters.

The idea that the commentator from mandurah and the tallest wingman would now have to be supportive is equally wrong!

Grump, Buckley will go to the highest bidder and you can guarantee that will be the AFL subsidised Tas team. They need a high profile person, like they did with GWS and Sheedy, so I think he will bide his time and go south as he will be on a monster deal.
Cox is the media favourite and an ex WC champ so the sentiment may overpower the rational, saying that, if Longmure says Cox is a great choice I'd be listening to him, the best coach in the comp imho, coaching at the club with the best football department.
Buckley has won/shared a Brownlow but never played in a premiership team or coached a premiership team. Schoey has played in 3 WAFL flags and coached 3 WAFL flags as well as in playing in an AFL flag team but he may be tarnished by being part of the Simpson Regime. If WC don't want him he's more than welcome back at Subi

By the WC contributors.  They say he is a bit of a fig jam. Find that hard to believe, as there was none of that stuff when he played for Dampier Sharks.  Plus his father Norm is a real gentleman and I reckon that would have rubbed off on Dean.

Right, well I don't see him as having those despised qualities but just don't think he's a great speaker but I don't watch much AFL but just my opinion when I've seen him interviewed.

His face is front and centre at every Sydney game as he sits right next to John Longmire. Hard to miss his big schnoz. I just think Schofield has all the runs on the board.

Seemed to be a change in style of play today with players going directly towards goal rather than flicking it around in back half trying to switch play. Maybe trying to teach them to compete more instead of picking up cheap worthless stats.

Nathan Buckley played in and won a SANFL Premiership for Port Adelaide in 1992 SS. Was also named best on ground.
