Big issue with the sunlight preventing players seeing the ball from that direction so had no choice but to push it back later, but only late enough to avoid the sun which you would think would be about 4.30-5pm start time. If it was never going to be at Optus then it should have been at Adelaide, better oval no sunlight issues and a bigger capacity, plus more central for all states travel. QLD must have thrown a truckload of $ at the AFL to get the game.

Maybe WA just tossed a bag of peanuts.

AFL House will be sweating on Brisbane making the GF. If not the stands will be empty (maybe 15000) as the NRL state has little interest in our code.
Currently all the AFL decisions regarding who where and when games are fixtured are having a positive effect on WAFL. Let's hope they keep up their anti WA sentiments.

Yes, it’ll be interesting to see what sort of gate they get. Had the WA Gvt and the AFL come to an agreement, a full Optus stadium would have netted them an estimated 40 mill. Even half capacity would have been a better option. Still, I’m glad that McG stuck fat and didn’t put the state at risk.

I understand the Weags will get a home final, against the Pies or the doggies. The pre-finals general bye allows the 2 weeks iso to happen so would appear doable. 30k turnout a given, so a bit of a cash boost for the "struggling" eagles, or do thye share the takings around like at WAFL?

Interesting question. The eagles would love to keep it all, especially after Nizzie said the projected loss this year will be about 14 mill.

All AFL finals are run by the AFL with ticket sales also managed by them. I don't know if the participating clubs get a cut but rest assured the greedy AFL will have the lions share.

Shark thats pin money for the Eagles, they reportedly had over $50mil cash at hand at the end of last season, so poor buggers will be struggling along with a measly $36 mill in the pocket.

FMD the WAFL and other community footy could do with a bit of that. They and Freo are owned by the WAFC but it is clear that the tail is wagging the dog.

I don’t disagree SS. They could EASILY give the clubs 10 mill and they would recover it and more next year. In a perfect world, they could give a mill to the 8 traditional clubs. Unfortunately they’d have to have the WAFC involved who would fuk everything up.
Dream time stuff I know, but what the hey!!
