Funny one that Baz.The Wafc wanted the ressie players to play in the Waafl. To my knowledge I don't think the Waafl clubs wanted the players.Unless it's like Peel with a host club alignment. The ressies still have to play somewhere??
Someone on here will have more details.I thought the Wafl woman's comp only had 6 teams atm.Not the 10 team needed.

I don't think so Bazza, its a bit confusing what is coming out of the WAFC at the moment. Optus have taken over the major sponsorship of the WAFL competition and they are also sponsoring the womens WAFL competition. There appears to be only 5 WAFLW teams (East Fremantle, Claremont, Peel Thunder, Subiaco and Swan Districts ) and it looks like that these teams will be playing on Saturday prior to mens League games. However it is not clear what is happening with reserves and colts as there are no fixtures on the WAFL website and no indication what is going to happen at the grounds of the clubs who don't have a womens team.

What a bloody shambles is all I can say. I did read somewhere that the colts will have double and triple headers as stand alone games on occasions so scouts can see most of the local young talent at one venue in one go. I also think the Ressies will play before the women where two WAFL clubs both have women's teams. I'm not sure what will happen when only one of the clubs have sheilas....the ALF taking over the colts and WAFLW being pushed ahead of the ressies is just bloody madness.

I wont be there to watch that rubbish, arriving 10 minutes prior to league, but worst thing is the carpenters that hang around the club after its really not a good family friendly environment tbh...

hahaha...you got that right...mind you...it's no worse than having a bloke with a nickname of "stiffy" coaching young boys in the colts. ;-)

Fairly certain the ressies are safe for the time being - if the WAFC were smart they would gauge reaction to the womens football prior to axing the reserves but no doubt they'll bloody-mindedly continue to ram it down our throats.

Its a good point about paying an entry fee to watch it - they could allow free entry to the ground up until say quarter time of the womens game - lets face it anyone that endures watching it probably deserves free entry for the league.

As I understand it the Reserves competition is safe till 2021 when the WAFC’s current 5 year plan expires. Unsure if that includes the 2021 season or will impact the 2021 season. I reckon the Ressies are gone after that.

There’s only 5 clubs with a WAFLW team playing a shorter season than the WAFL so you’d hope only a small number of games would be sceduled in the traditional reserves time slot. Ideally the WAFC along with the State government and local councils, would help the 5 WAFLW clubs to upgrade lighting facilities to enable night matches to be played and have the Women’s fixtures after the League match. Subi and Peel are probably good enough already so would be a pretty small outlay that would benefit the men’s and women’s competitions for training and games.

How will that work TT?....they'll still need to find players to supplement the WAFL league teams each week so can't see how they can get rid of the ressies. Would each WAFL club have a squad of say 40 and those who don't get a game in the seniors drop back to ammos?
