doesn't appear to be any future here for football, time to work on a redeveloped multi use WACA as the new home for WAFL.

I think we need to come up with a better compromise for finals then what we have now.I don't think it was ideal playing at Claremont yesterday.Reminded me of the old days at subi when you were lucky to see anything if you had a crowd and very claustrophobic with less then 4000 in attendance.Someone mentioned they were unhappy that their was not a mr. whippy at the ground but I am not sure how you could get one in.
Maybe we should play all minor finals at a oval that is more user friendly either fremantle, leederville or Bassendean and the grand final at the stadium. If they come up with a plan that benefits wafl then maybe finals played at the waca.

Agree, the WACA seems the obvious long term solution

I think the WACA would be ideal. With the excellent lighting it could be a twilight game or similar.

Yep, I would much prefer to go back to playing finals at a neutral venue , a redeveloped WACA would be ideal..

With lights you could easily have a double header final at one venue.

The WAFC could do a lot worse than consider moving its base to Bassendean oval. If they want a heritage listed atmosphere attached to an oval then there isn't anywhere better, the area is a short trip from the city, without being too close, lots of new development in the area, close to iconic Guildford, Swan Valley etc and plenty of room at Basso oval to build some new rooms and offices. They could integrate with other proposed redevelopment proposals at Bassendean, perhaps keeping the costs down too. Similar to West Coast sharing Lathlain with Perth. The zone is one of the biggest and best in the comp too.
I might contact Swans to see if they have even considered something like this.
Beneath the Southern cross i stand, on Bassendean Oval, can in hand, Swan Districts, you Farkin Beauty!

Isn't most of Bassendean being sold off for unit development?

Apart from the fact bogandean is miles from anywhere, there's no public transport to move large crowds except for the train line, the stands are decrepit, there's no entertainment precinct for before or after the game, the surrounding area is a shithole...other than those one or two minor hiccups it would be perfect.

Makes good sense to build their new offices at the home of football Steel Blue Bassendean Oval mate....actually to be based in a growth football area rather than in the land of the living dead Subiaco would also be a more appropriate location base for the WAFC!
