Incredible stats by waflfootyfacts.
From memory Subiaco's compensation package to leave Subiaco Oval whilst unbelievably also being able to keep and continue the tickets deal and the social club bar takings from every event at Subiaco Oval kicked in from the year before the 2003 season but damning figures all the same and an utter disgrace it was allowed to continue for 15 years without even a revised look at by the WAFC!

The best table to eye ball on Ric's site to get a perspective on Subi's dominance is the table outlinining the results since Peel's entry. in 1997 -- we have won 67 per cent of our matches. We have, actually, won less this decade, albeit not by much, winning 65 per cent of matches. We won over 70 per cent of our matches in the decade 2001-11.

We should also keep in mind that both EF and Claremont have both won over 70 per cent of their matches in certain decades in the history of the compertition.

In addition to the imbalance in percentages a positive for this season is that round 3, 2018 is the earliest time in a season where all 9 teams have won at least one game. In 2016 all 9 teams had a win by round 4.

In 8 team seasons, round 3 was also the earliest all teams had at least one win. This occurred quite a few times in 1938, 1949, 1961,1962, 1974, 1992 and 1996

Thanks in advance.

Here you go Swan42 From Round 1, 2004 up to and including Round 3, 2018

Thanks. It will be interesting to see how BC et al explain the dominance of Subiaco in that period.

I think Subi's domiance is down to a few things:

money
the afl draft which has weakened clubs with strong zones
the alignment which has weakened other clubs more than Subi
some good zone players, such as, Horseley and Smith
the introduction of Peel which has weakened South, Perth and EF at the expense of clubs in the north
the coming of Peter German to Subiaco, whom was very hard-line in his attitudude towards winning

You omitted to mention Subiaco's targeting of players like Twomey and Robbo that effectively strengthened Subiaco and sontemporaneously weakened the club they were recruited from.

AR I am amazed you have omitted SD & yet added EF (who I dont believe were affected at all) to clubs that were affected by the moronic decision to introduce Peel to the WAFL.
We were left with 3 clubs in our country zone as Peel took the rest which is one of the major reasons we didnt play in Finals in all 3 grades and took the wooden spoon all too many times in that 97-03 era until we took up the unallotted Pilbara region that no one else wanted in 2003.

BH: Have no fear is it only because I was unsure about what happened to SD-- thanks for clarifying it mate. It has always annoyed me that clubs, such as, Subiaco, among others, sat their and votted for the expansion even though others would bear the brunt of the results. It is one of the resosons I have not been a paid up member for a decade or so.
While we are on SD, I think you also lost Esperance to Subi in firly recent times?
