I heard someone at the Club say Sam Hunt was the best Eastern States recruit since Len Clarke, 1970 SFFC Premiership Player.
Ryan Cook from Collingwood, South Fremantle's longest serving captain.
Noel Carter as mentioned. From Tasmania, Richmond and SFFC 1980 Premiership Player.
Wayne Deleminco & Derek Shaw another couple of SFFC 1980 Premiership Players.
Jess Sinclair & Heath Black were very handy for South Freo and both SFFC 1997 Premiership Players, from over East, allocated from the Fremantle Dockers.
Just a few off the top of my head for South Freo who were pretty handy.
Edit: I forgot about 1970 SFFC Premiership Captain Coach, Hassa Mann, from the Melbourne Football Club!

Great footballer Noel Carter. Will always remember him wearing a lace up jumper .Never seen it before Noel or ever after Noel played.
Hassa Mann would of been a big $$ recruit for SF.He delivered the goods with the 1970 Flag.

Nice work Ark.Plenty of Coaches from the east.Subi Vinny Catogio with the afro hair. Not sure about his surname spelling. David Parkin told Vinny to come West to play against big body players. He never looked back after a few years in the Wafl.

Charlie Carter was a classic rover. I remember him kicking 13 goals one day. That lace up guernsey would have made him tough to grab! I've never seen one since either.
Hassa took the reins at South in 1969 and got the wooden spoon. One of those remarkable 1 season turnarounds.
A little bit like Swans past couple of years, in a good way.
Apologies, I'm new here and not sure how the posting works!

Mighty Bulldogs: South did a fine job in 1970 given the respective strengths of Perth, EP and the Cardies resectively, in that era of WA football. Did the bulldogs break a sixteen year premiership year drought?

Absolutely! Perth were a powerhouse and would consider themselves unlucky not to have won the 1970 flag. The other Perth clubs were very strong too.
Yes it was a 16 year drought after the 'Golden Years.'
