We've done stuff all in 5 years of alignment. What makes people think 2018 will be any different?

East Perth won't win a Premiership until at least five years (probably more) AFTER the alignment ends.

You have played in 2 Grand Finals and made the Finals in all but 1 year in which you just missed out in 6th spot from this Alignment MkII so it is hardly "done stuff all"!
Of course we all know the results from Alignment MkI.
Your masters the WCE League side will be finishing in the bottom half of the afl ladder which will also boost their Reserves side much like in 2000, 2001, 2013 & 2014!

Your delusional BH in 2000&2001 we had 16-18 east perth players playing every week and only 4- 6 eagles. The eagles have not recruited any decent midfielders this year which means the east perth midfield will be like last year a very average midfield.

I agree with that sentiment DW. They are a very professional organisation.

Interesting comments by yourself Mr AFL and DW...surely Subi doesn't do anything that other clubs could or should be doing as well? Maybe they set the bar a bit higher but that's up to the coaches, football department and administrators to have a certain level of expectation. It would be an interesting exercise to talk to players moving between Subi and other clubs just to get an idea of where the differences if any can be found. I recall an interview with Xavier Ellis on 7s WAFL show last year where in his opinion Subi were the most professional second tier club in Australia but he didn't go into his reasons why....so maybe you're right but I can't understand why other clubs aren't likewise.

BC surely you jest abt not understanding why other clubs aren't doing the same.

Firstly most support staff are not paid but students in various disciplines who require practical experience as part of their degree and see working at WAFL clubs as a way to do this! My understanding is that all the support staff at Subiaco are paid and have been for sometime. Usually only the head trainer Physio and Strength person will attract a stipend but rely on the referral process to justify the time and effort.

There have been at least three clubs that I know of that not paid even these folk due to issues with funds.

It easy to be professional when you have a the golden goose in Subiaco.

The colts is now a different situation as the AFL is funding that and supplying support.

EP are benefited by the alignment by having access to the weagles support when they have players in the team which is an unfair advantage.

That's not true in relation to support staff Grump. Only a few weeks ago there was a notice on the club's website calling for volunteers in 2018 to act as trainers, stats people, game day helpers and so on....so your assertion that everyone gets paid is incorrect. Yes, I would say the physios, club doctor, S&C staff and so on would be on the payroll but they're specialist positions and you wouldn't get too many doing it for nothing.

Whilst i respect your better knowledge a former trainer fro Subi was quite amazed that our trainers were not paid like she was when she was a colts trainer, this was supported by a coach that had come over at the same time, may have changed in the three years but ......... perhaps they were taking the proverbial

and you really expect me to believe or accept anything from the website, I accept your word but I would put a car salesman ahead of the SFC website and you should know how much I trust them!

shit mate....you're living up to your name. :-) why would the club put a notice on its website calling for volunteers if wasn't doing exactly that...calling for volunteers? do you reckon there's some sort of conspiracy? I might give the club a call and find out exactly what's going on as you've got me worried now...I'm concerned they're not asking for volunteers at all and they have a hidden agenda.
