I am praying for the day when an NFL team identifies that it could develop some good punters and tacklers out of an AFL side and buys up all the memberships of, lets' say, Carlton and announces that Carlton is now a feeder team and it isn't so worried about it winning games. the NFL will give some loose change to the AFL as compensation. How could the AFL object, the NFL has more money, bigger viewership etc - could only be seen as a natural progression surely.

Sounds like a lot of posters world's here might collapse if this happens....fingers crossed it doesn't I guess....

Freezin you have certainly nailed your thoughts about the WAFL to the mast: complete and utter disdain for the WAFL. You have confirmed what we thought about the WAFL with you above post.

One can only wonder what you will do when you and the WAFC achieve the goal of the complete decimation of the WAFL.

Just in case some of you don't access the AFL web site.
www.afl.com.au/news/2017-04-19/gap-betwe...oo-long-afl-victoria

Not just the WAFL where the AFL is calling the shots...

Tut tut 42.....where have I categorically said I have utter disdain for the WAFL?.....are you are telling me you won't attend one more SD game, if SD colts are playing at a different venue to the league side, at quite possibly the same time?...and that the WAFL is no more? Obviously you are too rightist for your own good....

42, you wouldnt know what to do with your weekends during winter if you werent able to watch your beloved SDFC.....stop over dramatizing things..... pretty sure the VFL still exists and attracts crowds even tho the TAC comp runs along side it......yeah not like the good old days I guess, but hey the VFL still exists and functions every weekend.....pretty sure the WAFL will be the same......change is hard to accept.....but you and others will accept it and hopefully will continue to follow it, like I have since 1987, when in my eyes was when the WAFL truly died.....in terms of quality, excitement and tradition......you get over it, accept it and move on.....

Hopefully the ressies comp stays, it serves a good purpose for the wafl comp. I reckon the new colts comp might move to after the league and curtain raisers for AFL.

Freezin if you think the current VFL is in any form the same as the VFA you are completely deluding yourself. I have said I will continue to support Swans until either they or I expire. On balance if the recommendations are put in place Swans are more likely to expire than me.

42...never said the VFL was it's "traditional" self....but it still exists....people still go and the standard is still good to watch....pop over regularly to Melbourne on work and to see family and attend games ......still good viewing....but yeah 'not like the good ole days'....but what is these days....just got to adapt and move with the times....I love watching footy and will see what ever there is on offer....still dream of the good ole days....but they are just cherished memories.....moving the colts around may ruin the tradtion of the WAFL but I'm sure footy games will still happen in the WAFL.....

La Hincha wrote: Fortunately, not all scouts need to be spoon fed with colts games played all at one venue.

In fact, the clued up ones are taking a big interest in seniors this year and like to watch colts and league together, and no wonder with players like Zac Langdon, Alex Manuel, Bailey Banfield, Matt Guelfi, Max Walters, Liam Ryan, David Madut, Damon Guiness, Zareth Roe, Anton Scotney, Corey Byrne, Gordon Narrier, Tim Kelly, Marlion Pickett, Tom Marshall, Taryce Stewart, Warrick Wilson, Jesse Turner and Luke Meadows running around - just to mention a few

All are products of a flawed WAFL development system apparently

Well I wasn't too far off in my prediction one year and 9 months ago. It will be interesting to see the shape of the reserves competition later in the season with the advent of the foolish WAFLW experiment.

The Major wrote: I have it on very good authority that the WAFL/WAFC are disbanding the Reserves competition next year.

League squad sizes will no doubt be increased to cover injuries.

This will mean a lot of players to come back to Amateurs and country leagues.
It also means one third less umpires required each week.

A big jump from colts to league for players and umpires to make!!
