I am wondering whether the WAFL has missed a trick this weekend by scheduling 3 games on Good Friday, thus missing the opportunity to showcase the competition over the easter weekend. I remember going to Easter Monday games when they were scheduled and they always attracted good crowds. Perhaps we could have had Souths and Claremont today instead of last Friday? No AFL involving WA teams. I think it would have attracted a lot of neutrals whereas people have religious and family commitments on Good Friday. I think one game is enough on this day and spread the games over the weekend. There is a public holiday again next week so the teams playing on Monday could be given at least a 6 day break. Also thanks to Channel 7, we have had no TV broadcast over the holiday period which was very disappointing.

Totally agree mike. The WAFL put all their eggs in the one basket.
One game on Good Friday - S v EP
Two on Easter Sat - PT v WP & EF v SD
One game Easter Mon - SF v C

Driving to Mandurah on Good Friday afternoon was bloody hideous. Normally it takes an hour but on Friday it was an hour forty minutes. I believe the bods at the commission just slap the fixtures together and don’t think out of the square. Perhaps the fixtures should be in the public forum for a few weeks so any pitfalls are ironed out and improvements can be mulled over. I don’t think it will ever happen, that’s ok, there are a few bods in Boston that can help.

Unclear the reasoning either, for the 3 matches on Good Friday? Seemed strange to see the fixturing. Spreading the games out would have been an idea. I too remember the Easter Monday matches of previous years that seemed to attract good crowds. An opportunity was lost again.

Anything would have been better than 3 games on the Friday like that I reckon

Absolutely stupid having three games GF, in the WAFL heyday we had games on Saturday and Monday and huge crowds, much better to spread them out. Now that
The Afl have cashed in on GF there's nothing special for the WAFL any more so why not spread them out,

Went to the Peel v WP game on Good Friday as a neutral. I always stay in Mandurah for Easter and the crowds have been healthy when EF play Peel on the Easter weekend...even cracked over 2,000 from memory. I was told by a Peel official the only fixture they request is to play against EF on the Easter weekend as we have a good contingent of EF followers in Mandurah including our Mandurah Shark members. So it was disappointed to hear that given we have played against Peel for quite a number of years on Easter they fixture another club???

As Winger stated asking WP supporters (or any other NOR clubs) to travel south during the Easter break can be a longer haul than usual.
