This is why I'm sitting on the fence - this is just another avenue to destroy family finances. Having said this, it would be great for sporting clubs. I think I'll get splinters in the arse on this one.

Same here mate, they don't interest me personally, but my concern is solely in trying to find some sort of income stream for our clubs to survive rather than being beggars on a year to year hand out proposition.

And the way Mc Gowans going with his lack of plans to pay off debt , don't be surprised if they start thinking about it as a source of revenue,

Slotties would only bring in minor coin - the good RSL's particularly Sydney make their $$$ from meals & drinks , entertainment too

And we haven't seen the real whole picture of what level of debt that arrogant maggot Barnett left yet

Reckon the pokies are too big a leap to start with there are other gaming type machines that could be put in clubs so they can generate some revenue not pokies.
Keno for starters could be put in all clubs for some type of weekly jackpot even remember the old bingo ticket type machines for cash prizes that used to around along time back.
Hope the clubs pursue this and the trotting and race clubs sickens me that Crown has a monopoly on gaming while community clubs miss out.

Grassy we had some TAB machines at Basso a few years ago as well but they have now gone. Most punters bet by phone-online account these days rather than the old TAB shop.

Given that over East the AFL clubs have gotten into the pokie market (although not always successfully) whats the bet that if it ever did get off the ground here the Eagles and Dockers would steal the idea from under us.

I know the thread states that this should directed at semi-pro/community clubs, but the sway they hold in this state would see the idea bastardised. Once you let those machines in the door that door is wide open and never to be shut again.

TAB Touch.

Stands out like a Beacon and yet,we don't get to use any FacilitiesIt must be noted though,Peel(and/or the Mandurah Mustangs)got rid of their TAB Machines. And South were about to get rid of their TAB Facilities, until the Worker's Club moved in as a temporary tenant until a new HQ was built, meaning they stayed.

Now I am hearing they're gone,so I assume the Worker's Club has moved as well.So is it not Ecomomic to have them,or do the gaming laws restrict clubs from having the tote machines.Or have bloody do Gooder groups got in the ear of the WAFC and prevented the Punter from using the TAB Touch machines, because essentially parents can't keep their kids from essentially breaking the Law? :woohoo:

Same problem exists then with the Bingo Machines. The Average Joe would like a crack at $50 with 20 cent coins,or $100 Red Tickets, spending 50 cents a Ticket. What happened to those,I wonder?More to the point,WHY?

We used to have Bingo Nights at Perth. No more!WHY?

Comes down to Bloody Do Gooders screaming their tits off with any excuse to do it and WE and possibly many Sporting Clubs are the Losers. :woohoo:

The TAB is now sadly gone from SFFC, the turn over feel so much it was costing more to have them than they brought in, the Workers Club (very few members now) is still there but only hold a function once a week on Sundays which is a Jazz Band, its a temporary home until something else comes up , they could go at anytime.

Are you talking the old Workers Club on Henry St?

If so, my understanding is the Uni has purchased that and now use it, not sure what for.

The long term plan is for a new combined Fremantle Workers, Bowling and Tennis club at Fremantle Park. to share costs.
