I was looking at the WAFL fixtures the other night to see what crunch games were coming up for teams still in the finals mix. I noticed that there is a Thursday night game scheduled for Leederville between Subiaco and South Fremantle on July 21st subject to the lighting being up to the standard required for TV as Channel 7 are broadcasting it. Does anyone know if this is still happening? Have Subi members got any updated information
To be honest it makes no sense to me to play a game on a weeknight in the middle of winter. The time to play these sorts of games would be March and April when its still warm. This is such a key game too as it might decide top spot.

I reckon put it as a stand alone showcase game on Sunday. No WA AFL teams playing. I would attend this game as a neutral and I'm sure others would too.

I think the SANFL plays a little bit on a Thursday night. Certainlly, all night games should be played in the warmer part of the season. I would be preparred to play games on particularly Monday and Tuesday, provided the said games were spread evenlly amongst the clubs. I know most on here would dislike such a move, but it would be something different, and more importantlly is out of the AFL programme. In addition, I would try the mid week night games, for a number of seasons so that it actually becomes a consistent option for people.

Wont be any good in the cold of winter. But worth a go to see what crowd will attend.
I still think the whole competition should be played as a night series in the Summer like A League. The womans AFL is going to be a Jan to March competition. Some Cricket will go to Burswood which frees up the Waca.

Have wondered myself why this match is booked in for a Thursday? Obviously putting a toe in to test the waters, so to speak. Not sure of the wisdom because many would have only returned home from work, it's also late night shopping on Thursdays.
Have not heard differently, and the match must still be going ahead I'm assuming?
Just hope it's not a foggy night like tonight is.

Bar and gate revenue can all be worked out between the clubs Grassy. When Channel 9 put in there bid to telecast the Wafl matches. They wanted to televise Friday night matches at the Waca.Great lighting,Cbd workers having a look after work.Trotting track next door.
Having said all that Channel 7 is trying new things to improve the telecast. And increase the viewing audience. The Thursday night match might be there idea??

I wont not make Thursday night footy, parking a nightmare and weather is crap. EP dont have to worry about fans or money since WCE took them over. Seems like just another plug for the the Club in which Channel 7 sponsor

Wouldn't expect more than 500 to rock up on a Thurs nite at Leederville. Brain dead fixturing
