Actually surprised it has only taken 30 years to get some wheels in motion, normally Fremantle are 50 years behind the times!! :silly:

Bit rich coming from a member of Bogan Districts footy club with a crapped out old grandstand that is a splinter hazard and definitely a dangerous fire hazard! Get rid of the old piece of crap.

As for the new EF/SF stadium arrangement, bloody good news and makes sense. This can only add to the greatest rivalry in WA footy. And as anchor said, it's the home of WA footy. Hence it needs to be upgraded to reflect this.

You mean the heritage listed near century old McDonald & Walker Stands ..and that is even funnier coming from an EF fan who call condemned park home for now!

Near century?
It's 84 years old
The McDonald stand is 78 years old.

come on BH.... just because something is heritage listed, doesn't mean it's in good nick mate......as for moving back to Freo Oval.....hopefully EF can kick straighter their, than they do at their current home ground..... ;)

Shane Watson, with your numeric logic BH, would be up with Tendulkar for most test 100's scored than mate!.....

This is great news for WA footy. Fremantle Oval has always been in a great location and this redevelopment will make it a state of the art facility for WAFL footy. The Sharks and Doggies rivalry will crank up to a new level and it will mean there will be a WAFL game in the heart of Fremantle every week.

With the redevelopment of Claremont Oval and plans in the pipeline for Bassendean, I think we are moving towards having smaller boutique type ovals which may recreate some of the atmosphere they have got at the games in SA.

I think the WAFC also needs to think about the WACA as a viable option for games. Particularly with most top line cricket heading for the new stadium, the WACA may welcome a winter sport. There could be some double headers and finals played under lights there.

Spot on mate, I think we are making progress albeit slow.

With Claremont being the trend setters with a modern comfortable 5000 capacity facility.

With Freo Oval a shared revenue , south maintaining their freehold land, and leederville a shared venue means we come down to 7 venues, with the Waca a real prospect as another shared venue,

Multi use shared year round venues are the way to go.

In a way freo oval is going back to its orignal use, two footy clubs, a cricket club, also had a bike racing track.

Plan is to have many more community events, music festivals etc, this gives clubs some revenue stream.

Always a major sticking point.

That then leaves with ONLY 7 genuine Hime Games,if we do go to 18 Home and Away Games.

The irony being,Chaddy was the first with any genuine logic,as opposed to the clowns on Roberts Rd and those behind a certain Network Camera. :woohoo:

Whats hard about it, 50/50, each will have own club house so get own home games takings.

It's been talked about for years and now looks like coming to fruition, it makes sense to ground share in these hard times for WAFL footy and we are heading towards a collection of state of the art venues with small to medium capacities, Leederville is established, Claremont is well underway, Joondy is close to starting, as is Lathlain, Basso is rumoured to be somewhere in the pipeline and now Freo. All will be modern great places to watch the footy. Oh and not to forget Centrelink stadium for when we have to play FART.

The other piece of the puzzle is for the WACA to adapt and resize the ground for footy, should not pose a problem with the east & west ends being grass banks which can be reduced to provide an acceptable length ground of around 165-170m. Maybe the game of the round will be played there, channel Eagles cameras permanently based there to cover that game and ideal for night game telecasts with world class lighting and ideal size and location for the GF with a capacity around 18-20k.
