The Abc had made it absolutley clear some years previous that it had no long term future in coverage of Australian Rules Football and sport in general in a major way of TV, it has wound back its Sports TV coverage completely and now only televises womens soccer golf and netball, that is it, it dropped Wafl, Sanfl and Vfl as well as Jackhigh Bowls, Mens Soccer and left Cricket years ago.

Abc preference now is now to spent its millions a year on its digital current affairs 24 hour news website and doco channels. Sport is no longer a priority and has not been for some time. Every now and again they put a bid in for a major international event like Soccer World Cup, but the days of State based sport are no longer a priority for the National Broadcaster as they have decided.

One of my parents worked there for 20 odd years.

In the 70s back in the huge Adelaide Tce studios, the sports department was huge George G was director with 2 full time assistant broadcaster Dennis Comnetti, Trevor Jenkins journos plus a trainee cadet, plus part timers , Keith Slater did Criket in summer and Footy in winter then there was others like Sarich that did footy plus all the techies and camerman, the did Wafl, sheffield shield, tests, racing, and many other sports.

Now they are down to two people.

Just curious to know the numbers of games each club has been on the tv covered by 7 since 7 took over from the ABC last year? Anyone know?

I reckon Perth would have been lucky to be covered twice including last season and this so far. And that's the problem with a commercial station covering it. They only want to cover the top clubs. Well done WAFC, another mastersroke in being fair to all clubs.

Thanks for that wag. Perth games covered 3 times last year, twice at Lathlain. Do you know if they've put up the schedule for this year? I might be wrong don't think we've been on the telly this season. This week would have been ideal playing at Royalties for Regions stadium.

Perth are shown on 3 occasions from what I can see.
Round 1 of Week 8 will be Perth and Swan Districts.
Then twice in Round 2 with Week 12 being Swan Districts taking on Perth.
And Week 14 will be Perth hosting East Fremantle.
