Yes, two fantastic results there. Claremont only had 4 more ball disposals than the opposition. And Subiaco had eighteen less ball disposals in their match and still came away with an eight point win. :)

No, no need to get into my thoughts on real grass roots football. I guess the constant whinging from WAFL clubs and their supporters just annoys me, being unable to cope with moving with the times and evolving explains itself and the WAFL competition.

I just thought it was absolutely hilarious that MR AFL with his Perth Demons logo would have a snide swipe at the grade of Dianella/Morley in the Amateur competition given Perth drafted their new league coach from the amateur competition.
Plenty of players from Perth have walked to the amateurs and country rather than play with them over the past 2 years- must have some cultural issues down at lathlain? is that where they still play?

How did I have a snide swipe at the grade. I merely stated which grade it was in and wished PN all the best for the season ahead with his club. Nothing sarcastic from my end so stop reading to much into it.

I do have and will continue to have a great respect for the amateur competition.

What does the Scoreboard say?

That's the answer to everything.

That's quite true G. Unfortunate to say but our so called local media is very weak and tends to ignore the Wafl. If it wasn't for sites like this, where would we be? I've started keeping an eye on the Wafl stats page which shows what goes on behind the scenes.

Having been involved with amateur football and loved my time for the best part of 20 years up until 3 years ago it has been wonderful to have the freedom to enjoy WAFL footy once again as a spectator. The standard is still high at WAFL level despite what the naysayers would declare. Both leagues have their positives....amateurs being self sustainable and an outlet for those who wanna have a kick whilst WAFL offering talented kids opportunity and a highway to a well paid professional career if they are good enough. Both leagues have their place and their own challenges to face. The fact that some amateur clubs are defying the rules and paying players as all involved in the comp are aware but turn a blind eye to is a blight on fairness considering the rules as they are currently written, unaustralian in theory. Who can say it is any better at WAFL level when alignments etc are considered. The majority at amateur level are playing at the level because they are not good enough to make it at WAFL level. That is something many amateurs aren't prepared to admit. Woulda coulda shoulda, I've heard it all before a hundred times over. So every time I hear snide comments regarding WAFL from those at amateur level one can only wonder where that bitterness comes from. Either you are too young to understand the history of our state's premier comp or completely naive as to the role it has played in developing the code in this country. Understand times have changed with the introduction of the national league but to suggest the WAFL has done nothing for real grass roots footy in this state is plain ridiculous. And whilst I'm at it if you wanna talk Grass Roots footy start talking about all those volunteers down at juniors every weekend doing it for the kids. The Gary Lovelocks of this world who are bloody champions of the game in my eyes.
