Couldnt agree more Barney...with guys like Sautner and Knapton how on earth could the comp be taken seriously....We have heaps of cash - for the love of god get some business people in there that know how to run and promote a business. These guys have got no accumen, take turns in jobs for the boys and are stale.
The WAFL has the opportunity to be much more professional than it is and dare I say it be like the SANFL.

I wondered about this post when I first saw it because I thought that this was the guy almost here wanted gone at the best and maybe strung up at the worst.
I didn't think that this post would go long before someone slapped him.

A/man not wanting to go onto dangerous territory because we all know I don't stray there. What I want is for an administrator to look after the best interests of the WAFL competition. If that is done then there will be flow on benefits to the WA domiciled AFL clubs.

Did I think that it was likely from the person who has resigned?

Swan I still have a giggle when you type your WA Domiciled clubs comment, still to this day have no idea what you mean but you have been saying it forever. :) :) :)

GWS and TF I am glad that you are amused by my posts.

GWS: the reason why I use WA domiciled club when referring to the Eagles and Dockers is quite simple. Some people refer to them as West Australian teams. The reality is that they play in a Victorian competition. They don't represent WA. They just happen to have residence in WA.

TF: with respect to "the club formerly known as . . ". One can hardly think that the team that runs out in blue and black is East Perth anymore. It would be more honest if they wore blue and gold.

Ah maybe I'm a bit out of touch with my opening comment, I don't really know the inner workings of the commission too well. I've just never seen the wafl promoted and advertised like this since 87 and thought this Sautner bloke must have had something to do with that, perhaps that is all driven by channel seven though

I agree. Sautner had a lot to do with the TV rights, but you can't please them all. I wonder how many viewers would still prefer the single 'match of the round' telecast by ABC, as opposed to the new arrangement? Sure, West Perth supporters would prefer this, as some of their games would be telecast (depending if they are the 'match of the round') but as a whole, surely more WAFL games being telecast can only be a good thing long term. He also contributed to the new WAFL Colts major sponsor. I'm not saying that every decision he made was the right one, but I think the good outweighed the bad in this instance.

Interesting concept of 'more WAFL games' - it is my understanding that Ch 7 are only broadcasting 18 rounds of the qualifying rounds rather than the ABC's all rounds braodcast.

anchorman wrote: So Swan does that mean that clubs like Geelong, Hawthorn and all other Melbourne based clubs are just, as you say, domiciled in Melbourne or Victoria. They don't represent Victoria?
Or the clubs in NSW and QLD, are they the same. Are all AFL clubs just domiciled in their states?
An interesting point of view.

Exactly A/man - I would think you would be hard-pressed to find any non-Carlton supporters who would say that Carlton represents Victoria as a state team.
