Yes. There is even a growing number of ex-players who are very displeased with this 'so called' football commission. What's needed is another office in place for the Wafl. Currently, the administration is broken and the question should be asked as to why is it there?

The sleeping giant may finally awaken from it's slumber, the WAFC is focused purely on the two AFL clubs. They keep bitching that they have to look after the AFL clubs to keep the $$$ rolling in, in doing so they've dropped the ball, taken thier eyes off the charter of the WAFC due to being star struck at the lunches and functions before the AFL games. Must be the only country in the world where 2nd tier/feeder competitions are irrelevant, if they die off then see them hit the panic buttons.
Reckon if they don't get the rights to the new stadium they may wake up and realise what they've messed up because the AFL will ignore them.

Someone told me Dorrington was voted back with the support of every WAFL club and that in the past he stood up strongly for the WAFL at board meetings?

Can someone confirm if this is true?

Yes it was in Saturdays West a couple of weeks ago when it was first announced that Dorrington wanted to come back that he had the full support of all nine clubs.

Personally I wouldn't misconstrue the WAFL clubs' support for Dorrington as popularity for him; I think it is merely that he is the lesser of two evils. He may have a modicum of interest in the WAFL compared to absolutely no interest in the WAFL from the other commissioners.

The proof is there for all to see. If the WAFC commissioners were interested in the WAFL they would have vetoed the host club alignment and would have told the WA domiciled AFL clubs that the host club alignment was bad for the WAFL and as such wouldn't be approved.

Would of been better if Dorro had of said "well I and other big wigs from WAFC will lead from the front and chip in 50K out of our own salaries and hopefully the clubs can at least meet us half way"...well that's what a true protector of the WAFLwould of done, especially when they get paid over the odds for doing sweet FA except for touching their toes for those floozies in the AFL 24/7!

Yeah Swan its interesting, Personally, I find the situation perilous, fundamenatlly the WAFC must be banrupt of talent if they have to rely on bringing a bloke who left a year ago, is his age, has checkered history regarding the maintenance of WAFL i.e. the Weststar era.

To make matters worse he is entering at a time when the entire edifice is approaching crisis, the WAFC is losing money, AFL revenues are dropping, its staggering given the massive amounts floating around the AFL monster that draft fees have FALLEN from 35K to 25K - south are 30K poorer after having 3 players picked, As Freeze says its just gobsmasking that they are now holding hands out to several basically insolvent clubs asking for 50K a year for TV covergae, 50K a year is enourmous, as if the Alignment has not been bad enough now they are effectivley asking for 50K a year back from what was promised as compensation as part of the deal.

Crowds obviosuly plummeted this year, the 10K turnout at the GF was a debacle, every cent from now on will be critical to most clubs, (bar Subi).

For the WAFC to lose arguably their biggest asset (other than the 2 AFL club licences) in the naming rights sponsor for Subiaco Oval and the WAFL's biggest asset in live TV coverage, knowing full well inadvance, and to have no ready replacements, has to be incompetent at best, or criminally liable. Beggars belief that this has happened under the watch of the current WAFC administration and Board, yet two board members get re-elected....cue Monty Python theme.
They can't argue the stadium caused the loss, surely they could offer an inducement involving the new stadium, be it under their control or not. SANFL managed to do a deal on commercial TV, but no, the WAFC likes to prove they're different.
The inmates are running the asylum. :woohoo:
