Very interesting looking at South Freos list considering Dogmans chest beating on another thread re- non local players

We're pretty much all in the same boat nowadays. Some pretty ordinary recruits among some pretty good ones.

On average Ben you could nearly say half of each team's recruits have been or will be a waste of time ??? That means if the points system was lower then each team could have about 5 more local juniors come through on their lists ???

Yeah I reckon recruiting has gone too far at most of the clubs now. Some of these recruits are just blocking the development path for more talented locals. Sure, the first 15-20 matches for a kid can be a bit hit and miss but they don't get experience any other way except by playing in the league side. Once they get to 15-20 games they're usually ok after that (If they've got what it takes)

I reckon where fans get duped is they see a recruit. He's usually a bit older and therefore bigger in the body and so they think okay, this bloke looks ready made. Trouble is, a lot of the time they don't have much ability.

Oh slumdog, if only you had of got my very clear and simple point regarding the non-local players. We do have some non zone players for sure, 4 in the whole list out of WA who have been recruited over the last 3 years. Saunders, Woods, Ross, Bewick and Gillespie came over to get more league games, we hardly poached the big name players like you have. McCarrey and Miller both fell out with EF and came to SF with mates there being an attractive option. Sgherza is a SF fella anyway who shouldn't be on that list as he went to EF and then came back to his original club.

Riggio, Hilderbrandt, Hams, Roach, Gaeppen, Hansen, Twomey, Robinson and Davis have been the backbone of your club for several years. Add Jacky and Motlop to that list too from imports in 2012. You tried to get Murphy as well several times even though you had Geappen and Hansen at the time! Maybe the cash has dried up and all that was willing was a few Perth figjams??

Big difference in why players came to SF and why players went to SD.
