Barney wrote: AAMI decides not to renew their sponsorship deal. I'm sure it has nothing to do with one of the key stakeholders of this competition continually talking the WAFL down every chance he gets in The West.

The WAFC tries to save over $200K a year by getting a commercial TV station to cover the league, they organise a majority of the sponsorship needed and a broadcaster. Then the same key stakeholders refuses to co-operate with the new deal and it is slowly fading away.

Fantastic.

Barney who are the 'key stakeholders' you speak of that talk the WAFL down in the Worst at every opportunity?

Barney are you working for WAFC. I dont hear or read any one talking done the comp. Sautner on the nose with most people. The WAFC are paid to do a job and are failing miserably. Piss them all off i say and get some one who cares about the WAFL not just the cushion they are sitting on at the AFL on the weekends.

too late, its gone.

when the comp loses its credibility, the rest of the ride is all downhill. Besides when you have Victorians running the Wafl, do you think they'd give a shit. Next thing you know they will get Alan Joyce from Qantas to run the league.

we have our memories, that's it people.

Dead Right Jardine, the game is well and truly up for the rump of the WAFL now, the genuine credibilty of the comp is gone, the public/media interest and commercial dollar soon follows, the powers that be know all this and care factor is nil, it is and will be a financial begger beholden to the two local AFL monsters.

Fact is - there would only be about 200 people left in the state that actually care.

Expect about 15,000 at the GF this year. less the year after.

I agree with you Barney so much negative stuff a lot of it from the council of presidents which is regrettable. What do people think about the possibility of AHG sponsoring the competition.

Mate I dont reckon you can blame the presidents, they barely have enough dough to pay the bills these days at most clubs, and are cap in hand to the WAFC for extra dough and are just about prepapred to bend over and take it to get it.

Mate things are pretty dire in the corporate world at the mo, the boom is gone and unenployment is on the way up, big sponsors will be hard to find , if its AHG, Coca Cola, even Winfield Red... I'd grab it what ever it was - times are tough.

Yes I tend to agree beggars can't be choosers in this climate. But I Know many folks on here hate Mr Howson, we can't afford to lose any more WAFL followers.

I dont think you can blame the Presidents (except for may be EP's) who sold us all out and inding so belittled the Club adn WAFL. Infact i dont think they have been loud enough this year. Fact is West Aussie Guy is correct about AAMI-still sad :( :(

If you read the article in the West...I know most here don't don't read that heap of shit, but if you read it you will find out that they no longer need to spend that sort on money on the WAFL.They have established then selves without the need for the WAFL.
It is a bit like the GIO insurance company when they expanded out to Western Australia, they were handing out money hand over fist to any one who applied. But when they had enough from the sponsorships they with drew it all.
But I guess the conspiracy theory is still alive and growing.....well at least it is here.

Yes Aami have now established themselves over here in the West and now no longer need the exposure or spending as much money on promoting their brand.

However it is a financial hole that the WAFL/WAFC needs to fill with another sponsor or group of sponsors.

And the sponsors that pulled out of the commercial tv deal to broadcast the Wafl is also a worry! Cannot see any of those sponsors replacing ami? Not unless the sponsorship is worth less than the current setup. Or perhaps instead of one major sponsor, maybe several may come aboard?. The whole thing has been allowed to become a bloody mess.
