Larry: The real stunt men are the AFL Clubs, EP and Peel and the Commission whom have allowed the competition to be taken over.

Larry Bird wrote: Sounds more like a high school stunt to me Ark Royal. Whilst the AFL teams supply most of the revenue to football in this state they are in charge. Us old timers don't like it but talking and tinkering with as long as they have their players at one club mainly and playing their style. WAFL finals etc they couldn't care less Peel won't play finals but the Dockers could go deep that will be interesting will they be allowed to play reserves finals in the WAFL?

Us old timers don't like it but talking and tinkering with it may be all we have in the short term. I firmly believe the AFL clubs are flexible as long as they have their players at one club mainly and playing their style. To answer your last point first UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES should the players not chosen to play for Freo should be allowed within 297 light years of a WAFL final.

How flexible is it if you wany your own way and will not accept anything less?

Football Stalinism with blue and gold colours is what WA football has been reduced to sadly. I don't think Stalin was that well known for co-operation with others, so the Eagles wonders are doing a good impersonation of 'uncle Joe' by overthrowing a 9-nil vote by elected club officials to get their own way. People need to show a little more moral imagination on here: the alignment nonsense is a football issue, but at the same time, it is also much more still; our very liberal democratic essence.

Remember the time when we all had our WAFL teams as our first love and watched the new West Australian based club play in that Victorian Competition hoping they would do well.........not in our worst nightmares did we think this new club would become a ruthless dictator which would bring the entire WAFL system to its knees. How proud they would be of themselves back in Victoria. Mission accomplished!!! WA fuelling the nation just like always. When will we ever learn.

DW just to set the record straight; I have never supported the Eagles and never will. If they won one game in the next one thousand years that would be one game too many. The reason why Swans and Souths voted against the Eagles coming in waa they knew the damage that would happen to the WAFL and sadly it has come to pass and perhaps is even greater than what was imagined.

DW, Swan42 -- I have always disliked the Eagles from the day I watched them play Richmond in the first game. The crowd left -- including me, as I required a lift -- during the start of a Perth derby after wards. From that moment on, I was never going to support them in any shape or form. A couple of years later, I was at Subiaco when the ground announcer gave the score for their one-goal effort against Essendon: the whole crowd laughed.

Good thing the host club alignment has been so successful for the Eagles. Oh that's right since the host club alignment they haven't made the finals.

Haha..Spot on Swan, mate as you say they could not give a rats arse, ots all about the AFL corporate dollar and big end of town.

The longer this goes the more set the two of them will be with arrangement, it already seems like a long time since the pre alignment set up, once it normalised any change back will be nigh on impossible, as someone else says they both seem very happy with the new arrangement, its faded from the media and most importantly the 40,000 or so that go along to Subiaco are happy and dont care, the dockers will make the top four and the eagles will look to it as a means of improvement.

Personally, I think it is only a matter of time before a rule is made that Peel and East Perth automatically qualify for finals so their AFL players get ground time right till the end.

You may laugh, but remember anything is possible now that we have an exhibition and not a competition.

Aignment must be disbanded-its the only way integrity can be retained of the WAFL. EP have mad it this far because of the addtional resources and the extra gun players the WCE have donated them.
