La Hincha wrote: All the talk of boycotts and not turning up to matches - the WAFC would be loving it. The quicker people stop turning up to the WAFL, the quicker they can totally restructure and eventually disband the WAFL and form their "elite 18's comp".

Our only hope is to somehow, someway get more people turning up to matches. To get more people to become members and to find alternative and interesting sources of publicity.

It's going to take some really innovative game day promotional ideas to get more people through the gates and it's going to take a lot of effort from existing members to get their friends and family to join up. But that's what we are faced with.

Swans are setting the ball rolling by aiming for 5000 members in 2013.

You have a level head LA Hincha and in hindsight agree that my alternative be the last resort. I am sure the WAFL G7 Presidents have had a brain storm on this and looked at the alternatives. So one step at a time.
I agree with the posts that Suggest that in 2013 the clubs get those memberships up and get them on side.
The first objective will be to get a MUCH bigger payment to the WAFL clubs as they are doing.
Advertising by the clubs and supporters e.g SAVE THE WAFL group would help. All donations etc should be directed to this group and at the last meeting Pat suggest he set up an account for Fighting funds. Good idea and all money would be in one place.

We have a year to turn this around which is plenty of time to get it moving.
Unity is strength.

In the end if it appears the WAFC is determined to Lock down the agreement on their terms stronger measures can be used.

True mate. The WAFL clubs deserve much more compensation for this host club deal.

Hopefully once that's achieved, we need to come up with some bloody good ideas. The comp has had some better attendance figures between 2004-2011 but slipped a bit in 2012.

We need to get it rolling upwards again. The more fans there are of the WAFL, the more support there will be to resist AFL/Eagles/Dockers/WAFC power grabs.

The first thing we need to do, is get all the kids that play in each of our zones, involved at WAFL games on a regular basis. Even if that means free entry for their parents/uncles/aunts/grandparents.

Interesting comment LH & I must admit it wasnt something I had thought of but you could actually be right ..and if the WAFC sell out to the AFL for the quick $$$$ that is exactly what will happen!

I think all that would happen is that soccer would be given a big boost in this state, the soccer boys would love the WAFL to disappear, just look around now and see how popular soccer is in the suburbs, it's the WAFL comp that is holding them back from taking over the whole shooting match......all just my opinion of course

Let's get real. Soccer is miles behind Aussie Rules.

Average crowds at Glory games are less than 10,000. A home game between all WAFL games & our 2 AFL games v the soccer state league games & Glory games are light years apart.

As much as it would be tempting to boycott the WAFL, this is the time that all true supporters of the competition need to sign up with our clubs, go to the games, encourage others to do the same and talk up our competition. There is a great heritage there that the AFL or anyone else can't take away if we choose to stand up for it. Word of mouth is still a powerful promotional tool

The reason it is becoming a joke chopper is because it is run by deadset clowns like Cooper, McHenry, Dorrington et al!!
And as for Middlemas he may think he is the next Glen Mitchell in terms of sports knowledge etc but that is far, far, far from the case ..I had to pull the little smart a$$ up last year after he went to air with the wrong facts about the WAFL & my club in particular! A little research occasionally on the WAFL in his position on the national broadcaster wouldnt go astray!

What did he get wrong BH?
