Glad you see it that way Bazza..

Whilst the positions he has held are commendable and nothing personal against the guy I dont see what he has done for AUSTRALIA

He was obviously nominated by someone or a group.. Thats how it works. Most I heard on radio today did a lot for humanity and Australia.. The list you present Mike and Custodian dont amount to that.

What was the award for? Frank Charles COOPER Nedlands, WA. For distinguished service to the community through leadership and financial management roles with cultural, medical research, sporting, child health and educational organisations.


What we forget is these guys are living a good life. VIP lounge at all games and when it comes to the saying there is no such thing as a free dinner it doesnt apply to them.
Makes me wonder how many WAFL games this guy has actually been to or does he just present himself to the AFL games free and for a free night out and the rewards he gets along with some friends?

Did he do it on merit or just because he is riding on the back of other previously held positions? Lets look at a couple

Life member of the Opera?
WA state health Research Committee? What is that and what do they do?
Board member Dockers? Shit whoopee
On the Senate UWA.. Left wing?
Chairman Insurance Commission of WA an organisation that is well known to bend the rules and use their own doctors to prevent deserving people from gaining Third party payments.. Yes I have dealt with them and they have had much media attention as to their unethical practices.

And then we come to the influence on the WAFL hair, West Australian Football Commission (WAFC), since 2010; Board Member,
2007-2015; current Chair, Heritage Committee; current Chair, Re-numeration Committee; current Chair, WAFC Life Members' Sub-Committee; current Chair, WA Football Hall of Fame

My Point

Now me and Bazza Loyal WAFL followers who just turn up at every game one of the SILENT MAJORITY who have our views but because of decisions by this person and his committee are seeing our great competition degraded and Destroyed.
We didnt ask for our say in this award! WAFL supporters didnt get to answer a referendum or a questionnaires as to the changes in our might comp.
He was most probably nominated by the list you give..

2 Clubs were the reason for the WAFC decision being EP and Peel who if they were and remained part of the WAFL would of been bankrupt by the end of 2014 if not 2015.
Peel has had a huge amount of money possibly a million plus to help them survive at the bottom of the ladder. The proper decision would of been to see they could not succeed on their own merit and removed them from the competition. EP were on the verge of Bankruptcy and need a boost so the WAFC supported both these clubs to prevent them going under AT THE EXPENSE OF THE OTHER WAFL CLUBS.

I am a passionate WAFL supporter as many are but please accept my apology if this passion insults you. Please dont mistake my Passion for ANGER. The WAFL is over a 100 years old so it deserves more respect than what Cooper and his WAFC who are in Collusion with the AFL are attempting to change.

The WAFL has got to his premium football through merit and has many of our players have made them what they are. To this end we deserve some RESPECT.

The age old AFL/WAFL statement is WE MUST MOVE FORWARD. The WAFL was moving forward but now is moving backwards.

In conclusion well done Frank hope you enjoy having another feather in your cap but nothing give you and the WAFC the right to Destroy our great competition and turn it into the STERILE,MADE FOR TV SHOW,SANITIZED COMPETION THAT IS THE AFL. It is all about MONEY

Will leave it at that as I have said enough and it has all been covered before.

Wear your gong with pride mate because I wear mine with pride as I have done something for my Country as it appears you have to receive this award?

Now all I ask is you do something to reverse this experiment with the WAFL as it was tried before and failed and can only end in disaster . I cannot understand the WAFC thought processes but suspect it an AFL influenced and the AFL is not always right EP for premiers Hey Well they did it last time it was tried..

Shame all our previous premiers did it on merit but they are doing it with a LITTLE bit of assistance as they did when last in alignment. e.g

East Perth later acted as the host club for West Coast Eagles players recruited from interstate from 2000–2001 until the host club arrangement was abolished. EP won premierships in 2000/2001/2003

EP were on the verge of Bankruptcy - where did you ght that from Howson was supporting the club and attracted the sponsorship. The only thing that was draining money from the club was fixed when Turner took over.

Not sure that being representative of a club that like Claremont wins the premeirship and still loses money is a credential for comment on other clubs financial status or process.

Whilst I still do not like the alignment if you want comment abt EP then at least make sure your statements are a little accurate and not based on an opinion centred in bias and hatred 9both of which you are entitled to have but ..)

Cardy is absolutely spot on, these VIP types getting gongs for sitting on commitees, its a bloody joke. End of the day he's just a well paid Accountant.

The average School Teacher or Nurse working in remote Australia does more for the community and deserves more recognition than these glory seekers.

The honours system in this country is a joke, all these purple circles just get togther and nominate each other,,

The destruction worught on the WAFL during his tenure is more than enough to exclude his likes.

Whats next? - guess he will be made a Sir for services to the AFL..bloody farce.

Some of you blokes are phenomenally naïve. Parasitic accountants like Cooper join these boards to further their business networks so they can flog their shit services. Mobs like PwC and Ernst & Young have a whole team of people who spend their whole time trying to get Partners onto these boards so they can market the crap they sell. It’s got nothing to do with good corporate citizenry and everything to do with swelling the bottom line.

His resume says it all. He’s been through three of the once Top 5 accounting firms. In that industry I can tell you that aint a sign of success.

His gong may mean something to the mutual backslapping society down on St Georges Terrace – hell, maybe he can march on Anzac Day now – but to those of us living in the real world running our own business – rather than being a parasite off business – it means sweet fanny adams and is even more galling given the destruction this peanut has wrecked on the WAFL.

As Bazza said, there are real people doing real work in difficult places who don’t get recognized but some suited spiz from the Terrace can just put their hand up and every lords them as some great humanitarian. It’d be funny if it wasn’t so pathetic.

I wonder if his tenure on the Opera Board and Performing Arts Board inflicted the same damage as his teunure on the WAFC. Not that many people would give a rats.

As dazzler says, his rotating door at accountig firms is no sign of a bloke with huge talent.

Nomination.Happy to help out., sounds more a case your talking your Humble Time as a teacher down...a sad indictment on our society, but typical of one that undervalues and over values certain other things, Tall poppy in reverse.

Mate I have been involved in a large organisation that was required to nominate a quota of recommendations to the Australian Honours system every year, yes a quota they had to come up with 4 each year, it usually meant a few phone calls from those that wanted the award and those that had already been nominated by the applcant and awarded it in the past,,the whole system was corrupt as crap.

I've got a couple of gongs for my service to the community which I know was real...and they didnt invloved sitting in corporate boxes...

Hey Dazzler...do you work for a big 4 accounting firm such as PwC or EY? I do and have done with both firms for the last 14 years and can tell you the board positions and subsequent networks he has access to wouldn't add much to the bottom line. Christ, most of the groups he works with I've never heard of. Big 4 firms in Perth work almost exclusively with resource companies and the big end of town like Wesfarmers so think you've missed the mark there. I worked with Frank several years ago and whilst I'm not impressed with the direction he's taken the WAFL can categorically state that bulk of work he does outside the accounting profession is because he wants to contribute...nothing else.

Yes I am part of the great EY alumni. I was there when AA was sucked up by them and Franky joined. I've seen him in action first hand.
