Hi Waflfootyfacts

You might be my only chance at getting some important information that is required by the people who are trying to get Austin Robertson, quite rightly I believe, into the AFL Hall Of Fame alongside Victorian goalkickers Jack Titus, Matthew Lloyd, Peter McKenna, Peter Hudson, Matthew Richardson, Gordon Coventry, Tony Lockett, Jason Dunstall, Doug Wade and Gary Ablett Snr.

Would you have a way of knowing or finding out how many goals those Victorians kicked against WA in interstate matches and how many interstate games they played to form a goals per match average?

Austin Robertson's goals per game average against Victoria is very good and it may be crucial to find out how those Victorian players did against WA in comparison.

I reckon it's a good cause and I'm sure Robertson deserves to be in the Hall Of Fame. I mean 162 goals in a season is no mean feat. Sometimes I think the Vics don't understand how good our comp was.

Ok, brilliant mate. Much appreciated.

I've been asking people interstate all week and no luck. It's as though the Vics kept flawless VFL stats but forgot to file away interstate football information or didn't really care enough to do so.

It may be that the WA stats gurus have a better chance of finding out this information.

It's only their matches played and goals scored v WA that is required so as to make a direct comparison with Robertson.

Gee thats a big ask Ben but I agree a very worthy one. Austin is a member of the WAFL hall of fame isnt he.
Sounds like a lot of Googling would be the solution as a lot hidden out there.
Lots of sources including A couple of WAFL historians could help. You know the guys I am talking about.

All the best in your endeavours mate as this guy should be a Walk in for the Hall of Fame.

A couple of sites I have are

waflgoldenera.blogspot.com.au/

australianfootball.com/ They have both Austin Robertson Jnr and Snr listed

Then you have Wiki which is usually pretty good

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Austin_Robertson

And the list goes one.

Yeah I've tried every site but nothing.

The only hope is that We West Australians kept a record of who we played against and how many goals the opposition players each scored. Then there is the problem of finding out who were the 20 players that represented Victoria on the day.

It's nearly impossible to find out I'd say.

I guess the Vics saw playing against us in state games a bit like how we see us playing against Tassie or Queensland. The Vics had their VFL and interstate footy was an untimely distraction for many of them.

Yeh Ben be assured the info is out there somewhere. Just a matter of finding it. Sure they bought out a Budget in the State games.
Stats are always kept somewhere. Again a matter of finding them
Best of luck. Will assist when I can and sure others on here have some info

So what exactly do you want?

State teams years? Goal kickers in these state games? and are you talking just
VFL v WA games.. Pretty sure the Vics took these games seriously B)

The State Library have great archives and they would have books on WAFL history as well. One that springs to Memory is "Behind the play"
Behind the Play: A history of football in Western Australia from 1868

By Anthony J Barker, Perth: West Austrailan Football Commission, 2004, 440 pages, paperback, .

I know I have the number of state games players played in, and pretty sure I can identify who they played, then I should be able to work out how many goals he kicked vs the big v

No, no

They already know how many goals Robertson kicked in state games v Victoria.

What they want is to find out how many goals the Victorian forwards kicked against WA and how many games the victorians played.

Most notably the Hall of Fame members that I mentioned earlier in the thread.

It's a near on impossible task sadly.

Or put simply

How many goals at what average per game did the following players kick v WA

Jack Titus, Matthew Lloyd, Peter McKenna, Peter Hudson, Matthew Richardson, Gordon Coventry, Tony Lockett, Jason Dunstall, Doug Wade and Gary Ablett Snr
