This weekend was supposed to be the first game at the all new EF Oval...seems JT oil a few weeks ago was correct.

Yes the Sharks first Home game at East Fremantle Oval according to the official fixtures card. Hoping people didn't rock up there expecting a day at the footy. Hope they get to move in at the new facility next season?

I read somewhere they scheduled their next 4 home games to be at Fremantle Oval and Claremont Oval. That started in Saturday against EP.

They are currently scheduled to play their first home game on the new oval against Claremont on the 29th of June.

Scheduled yes, but as alluded to above, might not happen.

Looking at the surface on the weekend I would be surprised it gets used this season at all.

It looks an absolute mess.

There are huge sand patches, and they have recently tried dropping in cut turf to cover the bad patches obviously that was in a last ditch attempt to try and get it ready for the weekend just gone as that was supposed to be the opening date.

It looks miles off, the rolled turf looks uneven, loose, and poorly laid and then theres huge portions of yellow sand with no growth, whole thing looks like a botched cheap job that's turned bad, only thing is we are having this bizarre warm autumn the kykoko might grow a bit longer into the winter, then again we have had the driest autumn on record so far the subsoil must be like dust although they are pumping water on it via retic - but it is clearly not safe to play on at the moment.

Light towers look great though.

The whole exercise appears to have been a disaster.
Life will be difficult if you do not have control over your Club premises as per Joondalup.
I guess it depends on where the bulk of the funding came from.
So I wish you lots of luck finding solutions.
As for the surface, we at Lathlain are lucky enough to have arguably the best surface in the competition.

Its amazing how some councils do things better than others.

City of Bayswater for example do an amazing job looking after the turf at their soccer grounds - Bayswater and Morley Windmills - two of the best surfaces in local soccer.

Comes down to staff/parks staff they have - but to say we'll grow it from seed - and the result they got ... lack of expertise and total lets hope it works....
