so far I've found the Fremantle Oval night games the best value of the lot - but a fair portion of that has to do with being able to do something local afterwards or even during if need be

Good point, but need far better lights AND a Major Oval upgrade, but that's like waiting for the second coming with the left wing idiots running the joint.

my understanding is that Fremantle TC will get $$$ for lighting - directed toward night games for the AFLW but with an undoubted bonus for SF
whether that involves total replacement or just upgrading the existing I'm not sure - there is some good coin's worth of scrap metal to help pay for new ones

Cicco got those existing lights as a surplus sale from the ATHENS Olympics apparently, pretty good price by all accounts. good enough at the time but need a major lift for broadcast quality.

The only way that current mob of Wallys Court Cretins would get anything done would be if they were gifted the funding from AFLW.

Have Leederville Oval lights been upgraded? I haven't been to a night game there for a few years but I remember them being pretty bad.

Hopefully Perth FC, the WCE and the TOVP have listened to my feedback and complaints about the Mineral Resources Park scoreboard about how ridiculously bright at night it is and you can't see shit on the scoreboard on the TV or streaming service. I have also told Streamer. Fix it you lazy sods. You must be idiots if you can't see it is ridiculously too bright.
No word on the Leederville Oval lights.
Department of Sport and Rec provided City of Vincent a grant of $230k in the 2022/23 financial year for a LED lighting upgrade for Leederville Oval... Funding is there, up to City of Vincent to remove a digit and get the upgrades done!

I thought the Fremantle Oval lights Cicco purchased were the old Richmond Raceway lights from back in the 90s?

that's right mate - Cicco grabbed the Richmond set in the first place
think Bazza might be referring to the upgrade that was purchased

Disappointed in the lack of a Good Friday fixture - it's been a great day at Leederville Oval the last few years.
The early West Coast home games are just rude.

Only reason they started it was because it was an AFL free day . Now its full of AFL and other stuff so no point, crowds have fallen since,  good move I reckon there are 4 days to spread it over.
I still thought crowds were better than usual, but I understand that any paid staff would cost a lot more on that day so it might not pay off for the club.

East Perth experimented with night games many years back and they were not popular - and that's despite being in the Leederville precinct with the option of doing something around there before/after.
So those who are dubious about West Perth's little experiment have every right to be. As an away fan I'd be especially put off.

The new lights at Pentanet will have the same lumen capacity as Optus, designed for tv broadcasts. I know two members that may not pay membership for the 2024 season because night games impede on their personnel circumstances. Joondalup is not a Fremantle or a Leederville and I believe there will be a fall in turnover thus a fall in profit.

Perhaps a chance to promote Joondie as place to be with locals at night, I say good on WPFC for getting better lights and trying something new, for every old fart you lose who turns into a pumpkin after 5pm you might pick up 5 newbies...

And that is the problem. The old farts will go, there will be no newbies.
