Correct decision and it will be a long weekend so being a Sunday game the winners and losers can celebrate or drown their sorrows all day Monday. Easy to get to and get into, plenty of undercover seating if it rains, easy to get a feed/beer/dunny, sell tickets in the lowest tier, once thats sold out open sales for the middle tier which will help compress the crowd as much as possible.

They are talking about a twilight start, whatever that means, maybe 5.30pm with an 8.30pm finish. great for the game but hard on those that wont to celebrate after, but as I said Monday is a holiday for most.

Yes it was not the Commission's fault last season, blind-sidded as they were, by the cricket.

Sunday night grand final doesn't sound great. Who wants to eat dinner at the stadium? What if it rains ?  Better a rainy afternoon. 

Is it an afl bye weekend? That would help. Otherwise it'll be an add on to an AfL finals round. 

Great to hear after the shambles of 2020 and 2022 and with both Perth based AFL sides unlikely to play in the finals this season there should not be a fixtures clash. 

The AFL pre-lims are on the Saturday, WAFL GF on the Sunday with Monday a holiday. Pretty sure WC wont make finals or if they do they wont make it to the pre-lims, Freo are a fair chance to make it to that weekend.

Well that works well then. West Coast to improve on last season but that aint saying much. Might move up to 15th position. Dockers are an outside chance to play finals i guess. Could sneak in front of Port or Footscray and pinch 8th spot. But the AFL prelims being played far away from Optus allows the WAFL GF to take centre stage here in the West.

Best possible news. Absolutely nothing will ever compare to the comfort and amenities Optus Stadium provides. While the crowd and atmosphere looked great at Leederville Oval I’d like to hear from those who attended how did you go when it came time to take a piss and buy a bevy and some tucker? How long were the queues, how long did you have to wait and did you get your spot back when you returned?

I’m a fan of Leederville Oval from a regular WAFL match point of view because it provides the most options for spectators, parking is ok and if you want a pint or a feed before or after the game it’s got a great entertainment precinct around the corner and the train line is close by. Perhaps if they could increase the capacity to 20 - 25,000 and with it vastly improved amenities and shade and seating on the outer then it could be a permanent home for the WAFL grand final. But then I could foresee problems for East Perth and Subiaco because the greedy Town of Vincent would probably whack up the lease.
