According to Brad Hardie, WCE and FD will leave WAFL and be in the AFL reserves in two years, with Ch 7 coverage.

Good riddance and they can take Peel with them so the WAFL can revert back to its original 8 teams. They'll have to increase their list sizes to accomodate ressies though.

One way to put an end to this alignment rubbish......be interested to see how  die hard the WCE  and Freo fans will be watching their reserves team play in a 2nd tier comp.....how many actually turn out now to watch Peelmantle  and WCER play?....be interesting also to see where Freo reserves will play their home matches.

Probably at Optus as a tune up to the seniors game.

That sounds excellent. Pity not happening next season!

My thoughts exactly , offers an excellent chance to rethink the wafl, and can Peel for good, give the zones back to the original clunbs and hand back their facility to the Mandurah Bulls or what ever they are.

"diehard" wce and fd are only interested in their main team, they wont be watching reserves.

I want to see the detail first. The AFL reserves teams will want significant numbers of top up players to make their teams viable in a national competition. Where are these players going to come from? If they are plucked from WAFL teams, this will water down the standard of the competition even further. The WAFL may end up becoming a under 23s comp or an Amateur standard.

Interesting the new Tv right deal was finalised yesterday.Foxtel didn't come close to what they wanted for that extra 50 million a year.
AFL reserves may be a Foxtel ,Kayo only subscription.The salary cap will have to exceed the current 13million.Maby 13.5 million.

mikeh don't forget being a top up player for an AFL team will be far different then for an AFL reserves side......Can't see the top WAFL players being interested in that what so ever....yeah might be an attractive proposition for a 19 - 22 yr old who missed out on getting drafted or recently delisted....putting themselves in the shop window for a couple of years, but unless 50K + contracts are on the table, can't see the Fisher's, Turner's, Schlensog's, Baskerville's et al being tempted.....
