Round 12 Attendances
Subiaco v South Fremantle at Medibank, Leederville 2,178
West Perth v Claremont at Joondalup 1,937
East Fremantle v Peel at East Fremantle 1,408

Fairly good crowd at Leederville considering that on paper at least it might have seemed like an unattractive game to some. Still worrying that Claremont, with all their success and all their big name players, can't draw a crowd. God knows what figures they would get if they ever dropped out of the top four. "Peel like" probably.

On a brighter note, the attendance average (2162) is now above the years

2000 (1824)
2001 (1920)
2002 (1749)
2003 (1671)
2004 (1832)
2005 (1833)
2006 (1897)
2007 (1929)
2008 (2004)
2012 (2077)

Still got some catching up to do to equal 2009 (2304), 2010 (2211), 2011 (2211). But on the right track since the state game.

Interesting East Freo are on top, would of expected Perth to be in the top two given there great year.

Swans have slipped a long way down the ratings.

Yeah Swans have. I guess their fans think they should be doing better and are voting with their feet. Truth is, they should be doing better too. At least on paper.

Good input mate.. enjoy seeing the figures. Interesting to see 2 Ruckmen on top of the Media/club votes. That must be a first. When you have guys like Hutchings getting 30 plus every game for WP and down a bit
Cook and McGough deserve to be up there from what I have seen.
Not far of the mark with the ratings

Thanks mate.
Yeah the club votes on the stats page on WAFLonline vary a lot from the The Sunday Times and The West Australian. I guess the coaches like to give a best award to a player who did a specific job for the team...shutting down or tagging.

Which there was one more source of best players to be honest - like in the old days we had the Daily News "green pages", The Sunday Independent and for a while The Western Mail, all sending reporters to the game.

Not enough competition in the written media anymore.

La H I don't think that is the reason for Swans' numbers this year. After two games we were 1 and 1 and played Perth at Basso. The crowd was extremely poor that day.

One would suspect the way the fixtures have been constructed this year where we play three consecutive games at Basso followed by a 5 week hiatus have not helped. Similarly, the number of byes we have had in the first half of the season probably has contributed as well.

Finally, the bizarre pattern of the games where we will be playing Subiaco for the second time in a matter of 3 to 4 weeks and later in the year the pattern of Peel bye and Peel.

Hopefully, our crowd numbers will increase in the second half of the season.

Perhaps the magics is just gone, you can only drink so much emu export i guess.

swan should the AFL introduce a 3rd AFL club to WA - and they chose the eastern suburbs as its base - what do you imagine would be the impact on the SDFC???
