DG, boycotting the WAFL games is exactly what the WAFC want, it gives them the opportunity to rip down our historic comp and replace it with their much desired under age comp, which is also the model wanted by the AFL. Under all circumstances we must continue to support our clubs because this virus will wane and the fear surrounding it will wane and everyone including emperor McGoo will learn to live with it. Remember in past years when a player got a dose of the flu, he was banished from the club for a week or two for fear of it spreading, the same if someone came down with a gastro bug, so the same will eventually happen with Covid.

So stick with the moidee Lions DG.

If a player is contracted to a club and there is no "AFL escape" clause then the clubs are entirely within their rights to enforce that contract, but if they do so you can expect some sort of draconian action from the WAFC as they will be told what to do by their AFL masters.

What players need to realise is this is very much weighted to the AFL clubs, players stolen from 2nd tier comps are only temporarily plugging holes in the list, once those clubs get their players back the list fillers will be cast aside, but it would be understandable if it still appeared attractive to a young bloke to go over to the big dance for a few weeks. being short term contracts these "stolen" players should be on big money and the clubs should get compensated, but of course that wont happen.

You are spot on with all of the above SS.

But another thing is what if one of the WAFL players used by afl clubs as a top up gets injured?
The WAFL club then should also be entitled to an injury compensation payment surely......but knowing full well the afl system they will try and weasel their way out of that as well by crying poor.......meanwhile announcing plans for a $250 million upgrade of Docklands and or in the case of the local clubs having $50+ million stashed away!

don't begrudge a young fella wanting a gig but seriously against all these player intakes - it's beyond reasonable by so much it's just a farce
The Vics have postponed women's footy so they can postpone the men's until later dates - stuff this raid for a joke

Well that's a complete surprise to see the WAFC actually standing up for the clubs, lets wait and see if they stand their ground once the inevitable pressure comes from the AFL. The comment I wanted to see was that AFL clubs must exhaust their own lists before being able to steal players from state leagues. They all have reserves or aligned teams to draw from so I dont see any need to raid state leagues.
