I thought rather than use one of Perth threads it might be appropriate to create a new more general thread to gauge what reforms should occur with respect to metro zones.  Personally I fail to see how taking more junior clubs from WAFL clubs that have had limited league success is a way of redressing the imbalance there is now in the WAFL.

42 it forever intrigues me that SD are the club that always cops it in the neck whenever there is a redistribution of WAFL zones.
We were the first club to be formed away from the Perth - Fremantle rail line, setting up in a new area (Swan Valley, Hills, Midland/Guildford/Bassendean) and yet that is now being slowly taken away from us for having the foresight to start up in the far NE suburbs.
Interestingly the WAFC never seem to take teams off either WP or Peel who followed suit long after SD in establishing up in a new area?!
The recent claim of Caversham will be moved from SD is just about the last straw if correct, how on earth can you force a club based a few torpedo punts from Basso Oval to move to another WAFL club based 20km away?
Absolutely crazy stuff!

42 it was spoken on here a few weeks ago.A Docker takeover of Peel. Then push South Fremantle zones further south.Which pushes Perth zone further south.LaHincha and Southerner spoke about this.In this redistribution Perth picks up Armadale and Rolleystone maby even further south..But no coastal zones as requested by STT.Swans and East Perth share Bunbury.
There's a problem with the 3 Wafl clubs in the eastern suburbs..East Perth 2002,Swans 2010.Perth 1977.Im all for East Perth getting a fairer share. But not at the expense of Swans.

Do you recall at some stage there was a suggestion that Bassendean JFC be taken from Swans?

My solution would be to kick Peel out as it has been an unmitigated failure from the start.  Tell both the West Coast Eagles and the Fremantle Dockers that they will NOT have a host club alignment nor a reserves team in the WAFL.  Also, tell them they will be required to pay an annual amount that will ensure the viability of all WAFL clubs.  It will also allow them to have close contacts with their junior clubs in their respective zones.  This will provide the juniors to develop an affinity with the WAFL club.

the zonal system is badly compromised due to the 1997 admission of Mandurah - until that is removed it's an uphill battle

Gtr that would mean handing us the shit on the outskirts South are prepared to let go. We want a piece of the action in the brand spanking new growth areas Byford, Piara Waters, Jandakot, Mundijong, Hammond Park , Aubin Grove. Some of those maybe too far south but we should definitely have Canningvale, Willeton, Riverton etc and not just these areas in the sticks.
Get on your bike.

DD if Souths grab Manduarh and greater Peel and maby Peels share of Bunbury.Cant see why Perth wouldn't get those zones you listed.

Pretty sure the good footy folk of CV, Willeton and Riverton  will be shitting their dacks if that happens DD....especially looking at PFC current colts performances....Surely Perth getting the Squizzy  Taylor, Peter Le Cras and Jaegar O'meara areas is enough pilfering of EF junior zones....time to pilfer else where....though perhaps if SF head South, then EF can take on Jandakot, Murdoch etc....

hell of a lot rides on what happens with the 9th club - if the alignment continues then it's possible for options to be explored
if Perth enters an alignment it's obvious there'll be no redistribution of zones and like East Perth , restrictions placed upon recruiting too
