and how about someone enforces that teams must have 6 players behind the square at each end of a ground during a game
pretty much stops the abhorrent scrumlike packs

BC wrote: Some interesting comments and I like DD's idea of kicking backwards in your defensive 50 should be called play on. The switching tactic is not effective anymore as coaches have worked it out but we still see short 15 meter kicks to keep possession...so maybe the rule should be changed to make it 20 meters or even 25 for a mark. That would keep the game moving rather than the stop start defensive crap we're seeing at the moment.

Yes that one as well BC. 15 metres needs to be extended to 20m.

When a player takes a mark the opposition player stands that mark and thats where the kicking distance needs to be measured from, not from where he ends up kicking from. Countless times a player goes back 15m from the mark, then kicks 20m but it's still only 5-10m from where he actually marked the ball, it's a simple change that's easy to police and will make players kick longer. Love the idea of backwards kicking in your defensive 50 is auto play on. We have the 6/6/6 rule for centre bounces but we need to look at further controls to avoid congestion. That being said, the fact that WAFL players are at best semi-pro, not as fit as AFL they cant flood all day like the AFL, they tire in the 3rd and last qtrs so generally play opens up late in the game, but reducing interchange for WAFL could lead to last qtrs being filled with knackered players who cant run hard and who's skills drop off badly.

Got to Bazzo at halftime yesterday. Looked on the Wafl online and seen 4 goals scored in the first half.Didn't even get out of the car.Thought the sides where underdone with the first proper hit out.But South's,Subi and Claremont hit the scoreboard. Swans problem is there lack of onfield personal stops the big blowout.
No rule changes needed.Good sides will emerge in both the Afl +Wafl that will hit the scoreboard. The game will change with some very minor rule changes like seen in the Colts.
