Financial Aspects Issue Action

1 $450k per AFL Club or $100k (of which $30k is conditional) per WAFL club is not enough given it was a stated No1 priority!! And any other solution would have cost the AFL considerably more.

2 The amount of money does not recognise the expected impact of this decision on WAFL Club revenues - there was never an impact statement or attempt to value this impact done by the WAFC as demanded by WAFL.

3 There is no increase during the term of the agreement or KPI's that may lead to a share of the benefits to AFLClubs if they are more successful, as they have constantly repeated the need.

4 Development Fund - controlled by WAFC - this must be distributed and controlled by the WAFL Clubs and can be quarantined on clubs balance sheet as is $20K of the money in the deal. It would then be by agreement with WAFL/WAFC that clubs would then contribute to the identified projects and capability building. Must be controlled by WAFL Clubs

5 Understated benefits to Partner Clubs. Partner Clubs 2012 grants are only reduced by $75,000 creating a gap of a mere $175,000. This gap should be much more if correctly including the cost of a senior coach, 12 free players per week at least, no recruitment costs - transfer fees, relocation costs and recruitment staff and travel costs, Medical staff, S&C personnel and IT devices ie GPS etc.

6 Are the amounts in the proposal in 2014 dollars or in 2012 dollars? C&M grant increases by approx $15k annually, is the $450k by AFL Clubs increased by CPI until the agreement starts in 2014?

7 PDO funding is a re-write of history. When is was introduced in 2008, all but $20k was already existing Club grants - $15k Youth Development Grant, $10k Grow the Game and 1 off C&M grant CPI increase for 2009 of $15K. The increase of PDO Funding in the Model is out of the $100k - why include this smoke screen?

8 There has been no attempt to quantify the impact that this decision will have on the Seven.
9 There is no statement on the benefits to the 7 of this deal other that the funding.

10 Full draft payments required for WA based Rookies now

11 Peel's $300,000 debt - provide a status report.

12 Full disclosure required on EP &Peel 2012 financials

13 Is EP coach Dawson being paid by EP for 2013?

14 Has the WAFC considered the value of the "trickle down effect" to EP/Peel. Ie take advantage of the AFL brand for sponsors, marketing opportunities , membership links to the AFL Clubs etc

15 Should be no draft fees paid to EP or Peel for tranfer of players to other WAFL Clubs

Rules , Competition, Recruitment, 2013 Transition

16 What is the salary cap reduction for the 2 in 2013?

17 What is the points reduction for 2013 for EP/Peel for the interstate Afl players?

18 EP /Peel must actually pay into a WAFL Fund for the additonal free
players they are allocated in 2013 transitional year.

19 What is the salary cap reduction for 2014?

20 What is the effect on the points system in 2014? Can it continue now because doubt exists how it can be reduced fairly to the WAFL's satisfaction.

21 The agreed policy of increasing the AFL player value in the salary cap by 60% in 2013. Confirm this!

22 Any recruitment by the 2 Clubs for 2013 and beyond needs urgent clarification.

23 There should be stricktly no recruitment outside EP & Peel zoned players (or they forfeit their zones!)There should be stricktly no recruitment outside EP & Peel zoned players (or they forfeit their zones!)

24 Finals qualifications - AFL players not qualified - can they play for their clubs if the WCE of FFC are in finals (this is the current rules!!) What if EP/Peel not in finals and AFL clubs want their players to play as per 2012.

25 Constitutional Impact - Partnered Clubs voting rights given AFL influence

26 Should be no transfer fees paid to EP or Peel for transfer of players to other WAFL Clubs

27 Lists for Peel /EP should not contain non-district players in 2014 and beyond, they must all be local district (1 point players) players only.

28 The impact of having AFL Clubs directly involved in the Talent Pathway

29 Set limitations on the number of AFL listed players on the field at any one time ie 11 AFL 11 Peel, 12/10 etc

30 What is the compensation for AFL players taken to EP/Peel?

31 Do WCE/FFC players home grown return to club of origin once AFL career finishes?

32 Will the 7 get the same upgrades in sports science benefits as the

I writing in protest to the AFL PARTNERING MODEL between Peel FC,East Perth FC, West Coast Eagles FC and Fremantle FC this is a major Blow To the integrity of the WAFL. I have read the ten page report that was handed down on Tuesday 30/10/2012 plus the 32 point report from the COP Group of Seven. I can clearing see that this Plan was rushed, poorly constructed and a ambush on the WAFL Clubs. This is a policy on the fly with NO consideration towards the non-aligned Clubs, or their sponsors volunteers, members and supporters and The WAFL in general.

The Members of Peel FC and East Perth FC were not notified of this plan until after it was signed on Monday night 29/10/2012 . The members of these two clubs should of be given the right to vote on this matter. Plus the hard work of the volunteers over many years of these two Clubs is now out the window.

The Commissioners of the WAFC now hold NO trust, NO transparency and NO accountability and are not fit to hold office as caretakers of Western Australian Football. A vote of no confidence should be put in place affect a mediately

This will be a big disadvantage to the seven non-aligned Clubs in which they will not able to compete financially against the bottomless pit of the West Coast Eagles FC and Fremantle FC. In return it will be a very uneven competition by having Two Power house Clubs for the next five years, and a very good charges years after the alignment is over.

If it wasn't for the WAFL there would be NO West Coast Eagles FC and Fremantle FC in the first place. The current model was working If it ain't broke, why fix it?

I do hope that the Seven non-aligned Clubs BOYCOTT Peel and East Perth at the start of the 2013 season.

Cooper and Walton are weak as water. These are the questions that we all want answers too.
Why dont they come out and tell us all how this is better for the WAFL

Now that this all is going to happen the WAFL and other 7 clubs need to get an extra 50-100K out FFC and WCE and use some of that cash to employ a marketing guru to look at ways to attract extra fans to the WAFL. Our comp has many point of differences that the WAFL havnt really explored much in the past decade or so.
West Perth managed to attract 6000 people to a game v Subi late last season with a marketing and publicity strategy, and each club needs to look at similar strategies to do this 10 times each (home games) during the season, lets face it marketing in the WAFL has been virtually non existent

My question with regards to marketing is, why isn't the WAFL logo as a brand more prominent on club merchandise?

Much better logo than the rehashed Westar Logo. Could modernise it though.

SANFL only do it better than the WAFL because they have not appointed a WAFC like Football Commission. The SANFL are football in South Australia.

Can anyone tell me who were the two WAFL clubs opposed to joining the extended VFL back in the 80's?

Mike
