Good post STT.The Afl has been trying this one for quiet a while now.For a more attractive Tv package .American type Nfl package.What's next time outs.
It will totally change the game forever if these 16 minute quarters stay.That was absolute garbage what Richmond +Collingwood dished up last night.
Aussie footy is a game of speed, skill+endurance+high scoring.If the game not attractive to people outside of Australia, who cares.

I have to agree. Last night was rubbish.
What I want to watch is free flowing play with plenty of scoring.
The aim of the game, afterall, is to score more goals than your opponents.
Gtrxuonr, you are right we are getting closer to NFL style. We are not going to see any man on man plays. Yes, there will be time outs, but not only that, we shall probably have defensive teams run on when the opposition has possesion and place kicks when a mark is taken in front of goal. All rubbish.

Our game is called Australian Rules Football. Let's get back to playing it the way it was designed.

Absolutely no need for the shorter Quarters and these WAFL muppets have to follow everything the AFL do. The game last night went too quick. You lose 20-25% of the game.

I agree GTRX i i've honestly lost interest in todays 'GERARD NEESHAMS,WATER POLO,NONCONTEST''brand of football which has eliminated alot of the one on one contests.I honestly believe the games lawmakers should introduce a play on rule for teams that kick sideways or backwards in their defensive 50,to stop this keepings off brand of football,much like soccer did with the back pass to the keeper which was a very negative part of their game.

This garbage afl copied gametime has to be knocked on the head immediately before the season actually gets underway.
We are getting approximately 20% less football game time but you can bet your bottom dollar there will not be a 20% reduction in admission price, not too mention the 56% reduction of the season proper!

Smokey +RL watched a game from 1980 a few weeks ago.On waflfootballarchives EP v Swans.There was 18 goals scored in the first qtr in front of around 20,000 fans at Perth Oval.
The high scoring continued the whole match.There was high scoring,sharp skills,1 on 1 contests. Physical contests with fallen players down behind the play.

Compare it to the absolute drivel of last nights 5 goal apiece snorefest, I know which standard I prefer just a pity I dont have a time machine to take me back there!

GTR and BH...spot on. Now that is the sort of Australian Rules Football that we should be seeing.
