Thanks Cardy, good stuff.

As mentioned before bloody ridiculous that Peel were allowed back in at Division 2 level, as the GF score showed.

For mine think the shortened format worked, and still gave teams on Day 2 to qualify for the finals if results fell there way.

Peel missed the 2013 Championships after spending $15k over budget the previous year. How they did that I am unsure, but the teams in the PFL refused to cough up the extra dollars needed to cover that expenditure. Hence they did not attend last year. They were unable to come into the A division as Avon, as the B section premiers are promoted to the A section. Mortlock as the lowest team in the A section last year were relegated. If Peel came into the A section, there would have had to have been 6 teams, meaning not everyone could have played each other once. Or a team such as Avon, who had won their place into the A section would have had to stay in B section.
I agree it was not ideal but that is the way it had to be for this year.
I think Peel would have been an extremely tough side to beat in the A section, they were well coached, well drilled and had strength all over the ground.

The SWFL won their 4th consecutive A section title, which equals most recently, UGSFL 4 consecutive titles from 2004-2007. It also equals the SWFL teams 4 consecutive titles from 1970-1973. The record of 9 consecutive titles is held by the SWFL from 1978-1986 and will probably never be broken.

Watched the Division 1 match on Saturday.
Good standard of footy with some exciting passages of play from both sides.
A couple of interesting umpiring decisions but generally umpiring was good.
GN blitzed SW on Friday in the qualifying game with their speed but in the full game were unable to
sustain it for the entire game. The experience of some of the SW players came through in the last quarter, especially when GN came back to be within 8 points ( from memory?) with not long to go in the last quarter.
Generally, a really enjoyable game of footy!

There is some good footy played out in the Country & personally I'd rather go see a game in the flesh than sit and watch on TV, especially with infuriating callers like BT, Russell & Mcavaney, they just do my head in.

Sad fact is there is less people going to Country footy these days, and the days with cars right around the oval is very rare.

True,
But I've seen more people at some of the country games than at WAFL matches
this year!

Get done to a SWFL game Kirbs. Every ground down here caters for parking ya ute around the ground and enjoying a game of footy.

Not saying you cannot park around the Ovals, just not filling up like days gone by.

That's a cracker crowd mate. You will find the big games which normally involve the 3 Bunbury based clubs get decent numbers but nothing like that pic. We (South Bunbury) are playing Donnybrook after the Swan/East Perth at Hands Oval and I reckon there will be a good crowd that day.
