Interesting to see after many years of SFL folding where the teams are now in Ammos considering most of the clubs all said "They deserve to walk straight into A grade" without starting at the lower grades.

This year where the following ex SFL teams finished in respective grades.
Maddington - B - 8th
Thornlie - C1 - 3rd
Gosnells - C1 - 5th
Kenwick - C1 - 10th
Canning South Perth - C2 - 9th
Armadale - C4 - 11th
Kelmscott - MFA - Premiers (after a fall from grace in the Ammos)
Not sure of other clubs before entering Ammo comp.

Does Mosman Park still have an amateur club? Had a very brief stint there in 1985 from memory. Ian Earl (Early) was league player coach. Played my last game of footy on Midland Oval and got sent to the sin bin for ten minutes for swearing lol.

Yes Mosman Park are indeed up and about.
Earlie has just retired as President after something like 50 years selfless service to community footy.

While it doesn't make for very good reading now, i think the first year in the Ammo's both Maddington and Gosnells both won the flag in the league side with Gosnells also winning the colts to move straight into B grade (granted didn't last long there). So not a bad start to stake a claim that they should have started higher, possibly B grade at best though. Also the SFL teams were openly allowed to pay players so this helped with player retention unlike in the Ammos (cough, cough). i think you will find a lot of players left the SFL clubs and went bush to continue to play on Sundays as well as get $$ when the move and decision to fold the SFL was made.
Armadale didn't come directly into the Ammos, they went to the Peel league and got belted every week before coming into the Ammos and having to start down in a lower grade than the rest for memory.

That's right - there was a shed load of coin in the Sunday League. That's why the standard was where it was...jump a shame we can't return to the days of who pays the most in the AFL - then my good old Carlton would rise back to the halcyon days of the 70's and 80's.

In the first season after the Sunday FL wound up, Gosnells won the C Grade Black League flag and Thornlie won the Reserves.
Maddington won the C Grade Gold League flag, and were runners up in the Reserves.
Kelmscott won the D Grade Black League flag.
Gosnells won the Ian Dargie Colts.

I think any club coming in would push their case to start in the highest grade possible. Ask for A grade get C grade. if they had asked for C grade they could have ended up in D grade and that would have been horrible for those clubs. Knowing what we all know now, yeah C grade was best but you cant have a crack at them for trying to start higher.
