With a wet week of training and some showers still predicted Saturday, we could actually playing a winter sport this week. Away teams picked up 3 wins and nobody picked all 5 results.

Cockburn Lakes (4th) v East Fremantle (8th) @ Anning Park
After a first up loss, Cockburn have been purring along quietly and then announced themselves with a bang last weekend, ending Nollamara’s unbeaten run to the tune of 50 points. They seem to have adjusted to the coaches styl and are getting the results on the board. East Freo finally tasted success with a 1 point home game win over Balla – it would have been just what the doctor ordered for the EF faithful. Now the test is too see if they can back it up this week.
Cockburn to win.
Carlisle (2nd) v Belmont (10th) @ Carlisle Reserve
Carlisle are sitting second for a reason and after seeing first hand their run and carry last weekend, I see no reason for them not to cement a top 3 spot over the next few weeks. The round 1 loss against Balla can be written off since it was the first game – the Cougars could be the real deal this year. 20, 44, 65 & 84 – Belmont’s losing margins in order over the first 4 rounds. The lackluster weather should stop the upward trend this week but Belmont will need to lift in the local derby if they have any hope of avoiding relegation.
Carlisle to win.
Ballajura (7th) v Armadale (9th) @ Kingfisher Oval
After an upset loss against Easts, Ballajura find themselves a game and a half outside the 5. The will enjoy the smaller Kingfisher if the weather stays as predicted and will try to use the bigger bodies to gain ascendency across the ground. Armadale put a better show at home against the Raiders but still failed to pick up any premiership points. I think they’ll see themselves as a real chance here and this game could go down to the wire.
Ballajura to win.
Noranda (3rd) v Nollamara (5th) @ Lightning Park
Game of the Round. The 2012 C4 Grand Final replay is finally here. Both sides have made the step up with ease, only dropping 1 game each so far. Nollamara will be desperate for revenge from last year but the Hawks depth with their strong reserves should give them the advantage. A few clubs will be watching for the result of this one eagerly.
Noranda to win.
Dianella Morley (1st) v Ellenbrook (6th) @ Dianella Open Space
Dianella are looking the goods at the moment, yet to drop a game. The direction the club is taking this year is obviously paying off, with a finals spot looking guaranteed. Pretty sure this Saturday is the Raiders Ladies Day, so they’ll be wanting a big win for the crowd. The Eels are sitting midrange with a 2-2 record. Wins in these sort of games is what will be needed to make the finals this year and we need to start doing it now.
Ellenbrook to win.
