At this stage I will be going with the sporting pulse result of a Ballajura win in the game called off at half time.
With 3 away sides picking up wins it wasn’t all bad news for the 3 tippers that forget this week. 3 teams have yet to get a win while another 3 will be defending their unbeaten status this week. Current prediction of cloudy and 25 for Saturday’s games.

Carlisle (4th) v Armadale (9th) @ Carlisle Reserve
Carlisle had a big win down at Winnacott and would be happy to be back at home this week. Early season wins will help shape the Cougars season and force sides outside the 5 to play catchup. At home they are always hard to beat. Armadale were given a football lesson at home by the Hawks and now have to focus on getting their season back on track. Depth may be a problem for them with their reserves also copping a hiding. If they don’t win this week, their stuttering start to the season could turn terminal.
Carlisle to win.
Nollamara (3rd) v Belmont (8th) @ Des Penman Reserve
Nollamara came home from Coolamon with the 4 points and an eye on a top 3 position. They started strongly before fading but nailed the last 2 goals for the victory. The had some good ball users across the ground but if they get injured they could struggle with the reserves not offering much resistance in their games. The wily veteran Pickett needs to be watched if Belmont have any hope of picking up their first win this week. They kicked themselves out of the game with 5.14 and can’t afford to make those errors inside the forward 50. Both league and ressies struggled last year and they will need to get some wins on the board soon to avoid the relegation double.
Nollamara to win.
Dianella (7th) v East Fremantle (10th) @ Dianella Open Space
With the game called off at half time, Dianella missed out on the chance to record their second win. They had more scoring shots but failed to convert enough of them. It does mean that they will be well rested and ready to pounce this week. Last year they started slowly and just missed out on finals – I don’t expect them to make the same mistake this season. East Freo would have backed themselves to beat Carlisle but the scoreboard doesn’t look like they were too competitive. This could be a real issue for them if they can’t scrounge a win soon.
Dianella Morley to win.
Ballajura (2nd) v Cockburn (5th) @ Kingfisher Oval
Game of the round. As per the Raiders, the Royals will be fresh and raring to go. They missed out on the second chance last year so will want to cement themselves in the top 3 early this year. They have some bigger bodies that are well suited to playing on the small Kingfisher and will look to apply lots of pressure to the Cockburn runners. After tripling Belmont’s score last week, the Warriors will have a bounce in their step. After a lean 2012, they will want finals action this year and will be looking to knock off last year’s finalist at every opportunity. This is a real gauge of where they are at.
Cockburn to win.
Ellenbrook (6th) v Noranda (1st) @ Coolamon Oval
The annual Ellenbrook RSL ANZAC Day tribute match is a rematch from 2 years ago when the Eels were victorious. Both sides have plenty of depth with the curtain raiser a rematch of the 2011 C4 reserves GF and the teams currently sitting 1st and 2nd. Noranda have had 2 easy wins so far to strengthen the favorite’s tag and would be happy with the way the season has unfolded so far. The Eels have yet to hit their straps and had their pride dented with a loss at home last week. This match brings out the best in the Eels and will be played in front of a pretty good crowd.
Ellenbrook to win.
