I am sure the club did not want to get relegated, but a lot of blokes would rather play 2's and win a flag (when they should be playing 1's) than help the team stay out of relegation.

I used to like the Kingsley vs Ridge rivalry, but I don't think we'll be seeing you guys for a long time.

Despite many clubs doing this over the years I think most serious footy people know a ressies flag isn't really worth anything to any club. If that club happens to be relegated that season, the flag is irrelevant. Anyone who disagrees have their priorities mixed up. Players who rather player twos 'to win a flag' rather than help a club fight off relegation aren't players you want at your club

Yesterday I was at the ridge v warnbro game
The ressies was 1v2 with ocean ridge ending up running out pretty convincing winners in the end I think it was about 60 points , they never really looked troubled !

The league game was a cracker ! The ball movement was great by both sides , ocean ridge went into the last break up by three goals , then warnbro kicked 4 goals to none in the last and won by 6 points credit to them they never gave up !

Kinga, I can assure you that the best 22 get selected in the league side each week for Ridge. We are just fortunate that our next best 22 are better than everyone else's next best 22.

Tigerpoint, to say that a reserves flag isn't worth anything to a club is incorrect. If it were true, why would we even bother with finals for anyone but the A grade? Some of our reserves and colts premiership re-unions have been sensational days at the club and hold a lot of value. While I agree that anyone who would rather play for a reserves flag than help their league team avoid relegation does have their priorities mixed up, the flag is not irrelevant to the players who win the reserves flag when your club has done all the right things to avoid relegation. Of course a league premiership is what all clubs are aiming for, but clubs are made of more than just one team.

I always knew deep down that I should be playing 1's but they just kept on putting me down in the 2's. Now I understand the truth, they wanted their best players so they could win a Reserves premiership, hoping to get relegated so we could get back-to-back Reserves glory!

I'll be going directly to the president and talking even potentially suing Ocean Ridge for damages. Who knows where I could've ended up if I was picked fairly each week in league? Probably at least AFL level!!
