Although we play in C2, all 4 of our teams made finals last year.

Recruiting and retainment of 2016 players into 2017 is looking good and Colts recruiting is looking particularly good so far.

Suggest you try out a couple of clubs during pre-season before you make your final choice.

Interesting comments earlier about Swan Districts and Perth. We are in Perth district, but our players tend to seek out other clubs and/or try out Perth and come back.

One thing which has become really clear is that some WAFL Clubs need to put some time into their WAAFL Clubs - in some cases putting ANY time at all would be an improvement on what happens currently. One club I know of (not the one I support) sends Directors to every WAAFL Club in their district whenever they have a bye, Sunday game or Friday night game - and do the same with their country Clubs.

Disappointed to hear that. I have been a Swans supporter for more than 50 years and would hope the Club had a better reputation.

I have just been making enquiries for one of our players who wants to go to South Fremantle - another wants to go to East Fremantle. We have some really good Colts players who will not go to Perth - they will stay with us instead - and a few who have been and come back. Whether or not they would make AFL standard I do not know, but some would certainly make it in the WAFL.

Griffin Logue & Sam Taylor (both WA 18s players this year) go alright as backmen IG99 maybe you just were not as good as those selected at Swans Colts level who has to be said have been pretty successful of late?

Wouldnt be bragging too much. The league side is a Rabble! The club obviously has issues retaining players...

4 blokes are returning from AFL club to play at Swans in 2017 - Pearce, Ellard, Bennell and Gault.
any young bloke from within the district that wants to play colts or senior footy should give it a shot, new coach at colts level as well.
if they have the dedication of young Jesse Turner they will play plenty of senior footy, pretty simple really - dedication and talent is a good starting point.

I am with Gosnells.

Players who go to Perth say that they are not looked after and don't feel welcome. Some, having heard such things from others, just won't go.

Given the ability of some of these kids, I find that sad.



To Perth and ALL the WAFL Clubs, I say this:

1. Make a list of every Club (and not just A Grade amateurs) in your area - senior and junior.

2. Make sure people (directors, coaches, team managers, talent scouts - it doesn't really matter who it is) from your Club attend every single one of those Clubs on a game day (or even a training night) at least once every year.

3. When you get there, introduce yourself to the Club Officials so that they KNOW you are there.

4. Try and have a representative attend the Presentation Night of every single Club, every single year. When I suggested inviting someone from Perth to ours this year. the response was 'Why - they won't come anyway'. That OUR people feel that way is really sad too!!!

These Clubs are the future of YOUR Club - just like our local Junior Clubs are the future of our Club.

It can't be that hard!!!

You're welcome to have a look at Swan Valley mate, just promoted back to C2 (Laurie Keene Colts). Good club with four sides, mostly a young playing group with several travelling from out your way to play with us.
