Generally I have found the umpiring to be pretty consistent this year.
The only gripe I would have, and it's a small one, is when there's an out of bounds on the full, no umpire I've seen this year places the man on the mark on the actual boundary line and never calls play on when the player enters the field of play.

The E1 Umpires on the weekend did do that at their games from what i saw.

Watched both E3 games on Saturday. Very happy with the standard of umpiring.

Yeah. The only time that umpires will place a mark is for set shots and 50 penalties. The boundary umpires should indicate the mark when it is out of bounds on the full, however its fair to say that they only do this when they are close to the play or have to run past it. I do not blame them as I would not be running 40 meters to place a mark only to have the ball be kicked 50 meters down the line.

Panel field and boundary are trained to always get across to set the mark for out on the full. This probably would not happen with club umpires though.

Oh Really Major, I watched you umpire and you dont make much of an effort. There are some good club umpires running around that do everything that is required, including getting across to the boundary for an out on the full if there is a delay in play, volatile free kicks and shots on goal. Just because you happen to train a couple of nights a week doesnt make you a better umpire then some of the clubbies.

ALWAYS hey. So when the boundary umps are left stranded after the ball travels from one end of the ground to the other and goes out near the point post are they trained to run the 80+ meters to set the mark.

In the interest of time, field umpires are trained to set the mark if the boundary umpires are too far away to to do so. Like most free kicks they will set the mark and give directions from a distance unless there is a set shot on hand.
