It's Round 5 this weekend as the season moves along at a nice pace and the ladder is starting to take some shape as well. What an interesting week we have all had, it seems like only yesterday we stopped talking about Round 4...Oh that's right, we did. MrM had a relatively good week for those asking, one of MrM's Instagram posts reached 4 likes (for the first time ever) and some people actually commented on B Grade Football which was a welcomed change from MrM just talking to himself each week.

It was budget week this week and MrM hopes that Sco-Mo was kind to you and delivered you some good news budgetary wise, as Malcolm Turnbull says, "There's never been a more exciting time to be an Australian" for those wondering it's it's 58 days today till the expected election date and it's exciting indeed Mr Prime Minister. For those who aren't interested in politics and election campaigns, MrM is starting a campaign of his own..hot chips for all. MrM ventured to a football match the other day...no hot chips, it's almost as if they don't want people attending the games. MrM alerted Mr Tony Galati and he immediately shipped them a few potatoes so they could get started for next week, watch the crowd numbers swell for their next game!

As we approach this weekends football games, let us all take a collective deep breath and RELAX.

Swan Athletic v Melville @Fawell Park

The boys from Swan Ath wouldn't be too pleased with how they have started the season. Although they are missing a few from last years finals side, they will have plenty of work to do if they are to get back there this season, they do face a Melville side who has plenty of work to do as well. Melville haven't registered a win this season, and things might not come any easier, with back to back away games against sides who are more than desperate to win. I predict Swan Ath to make sure Melville will be falling to 0-5 and amend last weeks loss.
Swan Athletic by 4 goals

Mt Lawley v Collegians @Hamer Park 1

Mt Lawley have impressed this season and are definitely playing better than MrM expected. This is will be a big game for them as they look to consolidate themselves inside the Top 5. Collegians are on the up and are looking towards big things in 2016. The hope for them will be to win enough games against some quality opposition, and build plenty from there. Both sides might miss a few as they head down to that festival down south. Collegians might pinch a win here.
Collegians by 3 goals

Kingsway v Wembley @Kingsway Reserve MOTR

You're all probably thinking MrM has lost it here, but I truly believe this game will be a tight affair. Kingsway surprising many with early results gong there way, whilst Wembley are a team to be feared, which is why this is Match Of The Round.

Kingsway had a close loss last weekend but shouldn't be too disheartened as they took it right up to the much fancied North Fremantle. They wouldn't want to lose here and give up that good start they have or could slip outside the top 5 altogether. Wembley are looking good and should feel very confident heading into this match as they are playing some good football. If Wembley can control the midfield and give there forwards plenty of the ball then it might be too much for Kingsway backline to handle (simple football right, get the ball and get it forward..someone give MrM a coaching job). Wembley should be too good here.
Wembley by 4 goals

Whitford v Wanneroo @Macdonald Reserve

This game promises to be another good one indeed. Whitford are playing some good football at the moment and should be happy with how they are sitting especially after the start they got off to last season. I'm sure sitting top of the ladder they will be confident they can beat the 8th placed team, but then again, anything could happen. Wanneroo would have gained some much needed confidence after last weekends win and will feel as though they can knock off the ladder leaders here. I'm tipping a close one, with Wanneroo to get the upset victory.
Wanneroo by 1 goal

Quinns Districts v North Fremantle @Ridgewood Park

Quinns will want to bounce back after there loss last weekend but face a tough task here. Quinns will need to be on there game right from the start if they are to go close to a victory here, although they are a tough side to beat at home. North Freo face the long road trip but should be confident of going home with a win here. They have been playing some good football, but won't want a close game like they had last weekend winning in the dying seconds. They should take care of Quinns here and quite comfortably.
North Fremantle by 5 goals

Good luck to all this weekend. How many sides are affected by those heading down south for that festival? MrM hopes young kids would prioritise football, over music festivals and chasing women, because trust me kids, it's never worked for MrM.

Great write up,

Didn't think you would overlook the Wanneroo v Whitfords as MOTR in the West Perth Cup.

Should be a great game

Mr M - make sure you trek up the hill to the canteen, the chips will not disappoint, easily the best value canteen in the comp. Just ask Quinns, they ate us dry in round 1.

Very informative as usual Mr M

Swan Ath need to win to keep in touch - 5 goals

Mt Lawley very reliant upon the 2 x big forwards (kick 80% of there score each week) and with a bit of rain around - Collegians in a tight 1

Kingsway has been very competative in all 4 of its games and were unlucky last week against Nth Freo (albeit luckt the previous 2 weeks some would say). This will be a test against a side expected to figure prominently at seasons end - Kingsway in a close one on their home deck

Whitford stumbled early but have been fairly dominant since (so they should with the lineup they put out each week) and should beat wanneroo comfortably although the roos have been improving the last couple

Quinns at home are a tough nut to crack although rumours are floarting that they may have lost a couple to the bush which will hurt them as the season progresses. North freo are a good side and should win comfortably

Good luck to all sides in what is shaping up as a pretty close comp with no real standout team (apart from Whitford$$$)

Thanks all. You're feedback is always well received, if not to make MrM's head that bit bigger.

BigShow if I were a young lad trecking down to "Funbury" this weekend I'd be sure to hit up Fitzys after the festival, you couldn't pass up an opportunity like that, MrM might venture out Saturday night, just to take advantage of these young bucks not ruining MrM's style.

Unholytugboat, it was a close contest for MOTR this week, but I am happy with previous choices, hopefully they don't let me down with this weeks one. I would happily trek up the hill if these chips are as good as you say if only MrM could see the football from the clubrooms at Whitford, it would be fantastic.

Well tugboat the 3 - 4 players from the "country" who actively shopped around pre-season for starters

That didn't get any offers and decided to go back to the club they played juniors at, where all their mates are? those ones?

Great write up as normal MrM.

It was predicted to be a good year in B Grade and so far it has not disappointed, hopefully the year continues on this trend. A little like the AFL, where any team can in on their day (well except Melville so far).

I think we can probably give it a rest about Whitfords paying blokes, each year this point is raised and each year no facts are given. Yes we all believe this occurs (at a lot of clubs not just Whitfords) but it derails nearly every thread. We never get any closer to any facts and the issue will never be solved.
