The mid season cracks have started to appear. Kelmscott failed to produce for the second consecutive week. North Beach after a terrble performance last week totally outplayed their opposition. TA's after scrambling for the last three weeks finally succumed to injury and were never in the match against a determined Wesley side. Uni were too good for CBC and continue to dominate the competition whilst West Coast let a golden opportunity go by to put pressure on the other sides and lay claim for the only available spot in the top five. The resurgence of three of the bottom four sides means some interesting weeks ahead in the relegation stakes.

A Grade Results
Trinity Aquinas 5.3 (33)
Wesley Curtin 12.12 (84)

North Fremantle 15.10 (100)

North Beach 17.11 (113)
Kelmscott 11.13 (79)

Kalamunda 5.20 (50)
West Coast 5.7 (37)

Another good write up Big Al. First time, long time for me.

With a glorious Saturday, after watching some Colts footy at a Western Suburbs venue, I thought I'd venture up to North Beach to see the Kelmscott Bulldogs in the flesh for the first time and to see what all the fuss was about. I arrived at the tail end of the 2's where a 150 point flogging was in progress. Kudos to the lady Kelmscott supporter watching from outside the Clubrooms who was encouraging the Bulldogs to the end. Good to see support even allowing for the scoreline.

The First Grade game was quite good to watch. Kelmscott move the ball precisely and with speed and threatened early to blow the game apart. Fremantle's first 100 game player Steven Dodd is still very classy and played in several positions and looked dangerous each time he went near it. North Beach started well and led 5 goals to 3 at quarter time and missed a few crucial ones. As the pressure was applied in the second term, the game tightened and I think Kelmscott led at half time, just. The 3rd term saw North Beach really apply pressure through little #2 and also #9 who may have been the Captain. Kelmscott's #17 who may be Malcolm Yarran singlehanded tried to keep Kelmscott in the game. Dodd had gone off with what looked like a shoulder injury. The Final term started with 3 quick ones to Kelmscott, all set up by Yarran before North Beach steadied, after a red card incident for a dangerous high tackle left Kelmscott with no bench. A big crowd with some well lubricated ladies courtesy of ladies day festivities helped cheer the Home team to a well earnt win.

Without sounding like Malcolm Yarran's No 1 fan, he is a gun and without knowing his footballing history, I have seen a lot of footballers and he would be right up there as one of the best I have seen. Big call I know. He did everything possible to try and get his team over the line.

All in all, a good Saturday watching community football.

Another red card for Kelmscott, is that the second in two weeks or second card in three weeks?

Yeh Trusty, Mal Yarran is a gun player & possibly one of the best community footballers your ever likely to see. If you think he's good now just imagine what a jet he was 7 - 10 years ago! Could quite easily have succeeded at WAFL level & possibly beyond.... In my humble opinion.

How many weeks did the Kelmscott play get for breaking that blokes jaw or hasn't it been dealt with yet.

Looks like they've managed to recruit a stack load of junior footballers from the South Fremantle DFDC.

Also, why does C Ugle want to leave (to go to the SWFL) - previously denied a clearance on 17/6? Hope he's signed a Stat Dec..

SBelly, interested in your thoughts on last Saturday's game and also whether the last 2 losses to teams below Kelmscott on the ladder are just a bump in the road or part of bigger challenges?
