Also lets not forget the waafl competition is NOT like a country or peel league
Waafl is a tiered competion which creates eveness among the 10 teams in each grade with promotion rewarding success and relegation giving an opportunity to go back and rebuild
The points system probably does work in the sth west comp around bunbury because they play the same teams year after year and it was happening that the bigger richer clubs were pillaging the weaker clubs players so thats a situation where a points system works because u do want a more even comp each year

Removing the word amateur is not realistic. Clubs will be actively competing with the Wafl. WAFC will cut funding because of pressure from wafl clubs.

Im sorry and i mean no offense but seriously the wafl has always competed with the waafl and country leagues because to put it plain and simple most players get more money playing waafl and country footy with less commitment than they do playing wafl i know of 4 or 5 wafl players that have left wafl this season already because of commitment and financial issues so lets be real ay stop bringing up things that have and are already going on lets talk about solutions

Is It possible the waafl simply can't be bothered with the proper policing of the issue. Anyone that has had any dealings with the management of the waafl will tell u how lazy they are. They can't competently deal with small issues so how can they be expected to deal with serious issues.

As for your uni and a scholarship comment y not whats the difference between them doing that and clubs offering players jobs through sponsors and club connections to get them to play for them
Clubs already have wafl alignments as such and that comes back to good club management and people willing to put in the work to create relationships between an amateur club and a wafl club it doesnt just happen seriously every A grade club is an A grade club because of a number of people (volunteers) that put in alot of work in there own time to make these clubs strong and successful probably most B grade clubs also
Lets get real just because we brought in a points system or salary cap does that automatically even things up and lets say for example make a kenwick or rossmoyne an A grade club of course not because u still need the right people to make the smart football decisions and put in the work at your club
I dont think there is anything wrong with the comp now other than the word amateur and the waafl committee trying to sweep under the carpet what really goes on we have probably the best talent in coaching and playing ranks EVER this year most grades are pretty even and any team can win on any given week

Comment was complete tongue in cheek King in response to previous comment allowing the money to be thrown around. I hate the fact that people look at the game as a way of making money. Be nice to think we could play footy just because we bloody love the game. Long retired mate yet still pissed we couldn't lift my club up in to A grade back in the 90's. We fell short at last hurdle twice, guess we weren't quite good enough and that had nothing to do with money as far as I'm aware.

A point system would be a way to try and keep the comp even but an absolute pain in the arse when selecting a side especially down the grades where player aren't comitted as the top grades and pull out on the morning of a game or don't show up.
A salary cap won't work players who are currently getting a couple a hundred under the table will the start asking for more because every club can offer the $200. $200 in the cap and more under the table.
They either bite the bullet and go hard a keeping it as amateurs and make example of people and club they catch (kicking them out of the comp, not gifting them lower grade flags) or let it be. There is always people out there who will bend the rule.

The WAAFL currently has a salary cap of $0 which obviously doesn't work so an increase to any $$ amount will always be exploited.

In regards to the point system it would only be applied to the League team from each club. The points system won't stop payments but will control them. More importantly it would place more emphasis on clubs to develop their colts and increase loyalty of players to their clubs.
